CHCKLK has just recently released their single and music video for “The One”. This starts out with a dark feel to it that I didn’t quite expect, by just starting the song. I go into these without any knowledge of the group as much as I can so I don’t know their style and it is a fresh take from me. The dark music overpowers the lead singer, but that is intentional I feel because of the feeling the band wants the listener to experience. However, just by listening to it the first time without the video I had no context for why they wanted to go so dark. The upon watching the music video for “The One” it brought the single home for me and was much more enjoyable. So first time listeners it might take a while to get used to this single, but by CHCKLK sharing their music video with us through their YouTube channel, the first time listener will have a better experience in understanding the dark experience that I believe the band wants you to have.
