Maudlin Strangers is the Los Angeles based solo project of Jake Hays, a multi instrumentalist/vocalist, who tracked, engineered, and produced his forthcoming Overdose EP all from his bedroom in Agoura Hills, CA. He creates haunting musical soundscapes you’ll never forget.Maudlin Strangers’ highly anticipated debut EP will be out later this summer.
I was a little on the fence about Maudlin Strangers’ remix of “Overdose” but was soon run over. As soon as the lyrics came in with the slow, heavy bass I fell in love. The creativity and skills it takes to do a remix (a good one at that) is underappreciated. They give this song a breath of fresh air. I actually started looking for more of their music after listening to this. The lighter sounds on top of the bass gave it all more depth and made sure the listener never got bored. My only critique is the very beginning before the lyrics started; it doesn’t fit the song at all and sounds weird.
