Ep 38 ComicPop Rockin’ in the Dirt with Sekai No Owari

The ComicPop Crew take a trip to “Tokyo Fantasy” to discover the multi-talented band Sekai No Owari (End of the World).  Join the Crew as they share their experience of the band’s first forays into the world arena.  We sample four of their songs and discuss the music videos that are companions to them.

Thanks to Sekai No Owari and Amanda Charney Harris of BlackPanda PR for sharing their music in supporting ComicPop Library.  We mention in the podcast that the link I had was to the bands Japanese website, however since then BlackPandaPR had their English website so that is listed below in the links.

Join us for another fun episode by listening above, at www.comicpoplibrary.com or wait until later today and it will be up on our iTunes feed.

Remember if you have a novel, graphic novel, movie/television series or an indie band you want us to check out let us know and we will put it in our review rotation list.  Also if you have a question or comment send us an e-mail at admin@comicpoplibrary.com and we will read it during a recording.  Thank you again for everyone that listens and supports us, we are steadily growing thanks to you.  So keep spreading the word about ComicPop Library to everyone you think might enjoy the show.

Claus Zinger’s “If You Only Knew”

blackpandaPRclaus

Claus Zinger is an interesting artist.  He states that he is not the best musician.  I think finding yourself as a musician is part of the battle and then you move forward.  So he has begun this battle with the single “If You Only Knew” from his self-released album.  Claus has some great moments and then some interesting moments.  I will have to listen to more of his work to make a definite call, but I can say he is a musician.  I love some of the instrumentation that he has just figure out what he wants to do with his vocals will be key.  Give him a listen through the Surviving the Golden Age link here and see what you think about “If You Only Knew” http://survivingthegoldenage.com/claus-zinger-if-you-only-knew/ : Richard

Clemency Starting a Six Song/Music Video Venture

blackpandaPRclemncy

The dou Clemency is starting a venture that will span six songs and their related music videos entitled You’ve Got the Fire.  The trailer for the experiment is below from their YouTube channel, but they have not yet released the first single/music video.  Their website is http://www.clemencyonline.com/  so keep an eye on it and hopefully Margo will keep us informed about each release.  It looks interesting.

Debut Single “Whole Again” from Alec Chambers

blackpandaPRJ100

Alec Chambers has a great sounding single on his hands.  The rhythms are there, the hooks are there, and he has a nice clear voice.  The only thing that might hold some back is his Tenor voice.  I like his voice, but it will be compared to Justin Bieber’s voice and other boy band type voices.  This isn’t to say his voice is bad, because it isn’t, he just needs to be prepared for that happening.  Take a listen to Alec’s “Whole Again” through SoundCloud and see what you think – Richard

Upcoming Tour Dates:

January 5, 2015 | New York, NY @ The Bitter End

January 14, 2015 | New York, NY @ Rockwood Music Hall | 7:00PM

Lily Elise Releases Her 1st Single “Generator”

blackpandaPRlily

Lily Elise has generated an EP entitled Taken.  We have the music video to her first single from Taken, “Generator”, from her YouTube channel.

She starts out with really a nice smooth ballad that she carries well with her Alto sound.  Her voice is really clear in the recording and strong enough to stand out over the instruments.  For a first single she has a nice sound and I am interested in what else she has for us on her EP – Richard:

Julius Releases His Second Single “Ohh Baby”

blackpandaPRjulius

Julius releases his second single “OhhBaby”, his first being “Falling on Hard Times”.  Listening to both singles you can feel the classical influence he has with his experience as a composer.  In “OhhBaby” you can hear a “march’ tempo with the drums that you would hear in a classical composition.  Both songs are different in style, so it seems he is experimenting with his sound and his voice.  Each song sounds nice and for only his first two singles Julius will be a performer to watch.  Check out his two singles from SoundCloud below – Richard:

Ghost Loft’s latest single “Be Easy”

blackpandaPRghost rider

Ghost Loft’s latest reflects the single’s title “Be Easy”.  The rhythm and vocals are strong and sharp, but they flow smoothly or “Easy” on the listeners ears.  Very nice sound and most will enjoy the single.  It’s not a get up and dance song, just a nice flowing song.  Check it out through SoundCloud – Richard

Jupiter Arista’s Single “Call Me”

blackpandaPRJupiter1

Jupiter Arista wants everyone to check out “Call Me”.  If you are a fan of the disco era you will enjoy this single.  Everything about this single screams disco and to me harkens back to something that Donna Summer would have done in the day.  Sadly we are unavailable to let you listen to the single at this time, but look for it through this link to Surviving the Golden Age website: http://survivingthegoldenage.com/jupiter-artista-call-me/
