“Down by the Water’s Edge” is one that went straight to my sweet spot. Why you may ask? Ben de la Cour, at least with this single, has the stylings of The Highwaymen. If you don’t know of the Highwaymen it was a group of country western singers that were kind of on the fringes of country music, they were Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. I always loved their style when they where together or on their own and I think Ben has tapped into that same vibe. The music video that Ben is sharing with us for “Down by the Water’s Edge” is also something I can see the Highway Men doing as well.
