Ciara uses her voice and acoustic instruments to their haunting abilities. “The Ebony Trail” takes you on a journey that sounds so simple, but for an artist to use restraint is one of the harder things to do. Simplistic is not always simple as I like to say. The animation that Ashling Lindsay uses in the music video is also a simpler style which to me matches to the single’s sound well. This single is one that you would use to reflect or contemplate while listening to Ciara’s debut album, by the same title, The Ebony Trail, which was released this last March.
