Instant Graphic Novel Collection

During the 2011 Texas Library Association annual conference, Eduardo Zepeda of the Weslaco Public Library, won the “Great Graphic Novel Library Giveaway” from Dark Horse Comics.  Michel Martens, VP of Book Trade Sales of Dark Horse presented the $20,000 award that included 700 handpicked titles.  So if Weslaco didn’t have a graphic novel collection before they have one now.  Congratulations to Eduardo and Weslaco Public Library.  Follow the link to Dark Horse’s site for the story.

Win the Art of Alice & Lithograph

Librarians let all your gamers know about this contest.  Dark Horse is having another contest where two winners will win a signed copies of the Art of Alice book and lithograph.  EA Games is helping co-sponsor this contest.  Contestants will have to submit fan art by May 10th to be entered in the contest.  Below is the link that will let them know the official rules on Dark Horse’s site.

Dark Horse Star Wars Contest

Librarians let your patrons know that Dark Horse’s site is having another contest.  This one is a Star Wars: Crimson Empire III related contest were the person that enters just has to put text to the above panel.  Entries have to be posted on Dark Horse’s site by April 29.  This will appeal to your comic book patrons and the patrons that enjoy Star Wars.  Linked below is the contest page.

Graphic Novel for True Crime Fans

All libraries have their true crime fans.  Dark Horse is publishing a new graphic novel that libraries can use to bridge true crime fans with graphic novels.  Jeff Jensen and Jonathan Case have produced a book entitled Green River Killer: A True Detective Story, which is about the Green River Killer that terrorized the Seattle area during the ’80’s and ’90’s.  Link over to Dark Horse’s site for the full article.

Creepy Contest

Librarians with patrons that are into the comic book scene will want to tell them about this contest.  On Dark Horse’s site they are having a contest for three people to win a copy of Creepy Archives Volume 9.  Linked below is the blog for the contest.  Just  leave a scary post, with a link to your Facebook account, and your name will be entered into the contest.  The post needs to take place before April 14.  Then Dark Horse will draw three random people that posted to win the Archive.
