As all of you have seen the page has been quite for a little while. That’s because our good friend Vance Major invited us down to Starbase Studios to take part in his Star Trek Fan Film Production Melbourne. We had a great time and have several on studio interviews that will be making their way out over the next few months. Starting tomorrow we will be getting back on track with our posts and podcast uploads.
Maggie Szabo’s Wants Some “Gold”
Maggie Szabo is sharing with our listeners her latest single “Gold”. Maggie is making a splash in the industry being featured on different outlets and most recently winning the International Songwriting Award. With her single “Gold’ she has delivered a powerful fun song. It has a strong base beat and she has some great attitude in her vocals. I do believe she had a great time with this song. Conversing with Oceans Latest Single “Deeper”
Conversing with Oceans is the concept of Alex Bondarev where he is composing for everyone to enjoy. Conversing with Oceans has enjoyed composing music for Google and has had placements in television ads and programs. He is sharing with our listeners his latest single “Deeper” featuring John Forte. To me Conversing with Oceans is spotlighting the instrumentals and the vocals are the little something extra for everyone to enjoy on how they blend together. As some of you will recall I, myself enjoy instrumental music and with “Deeper” the vocals could be stripped away and I’d still enjoy this piece, as I commented this seems to be the spotlight and they sound a little like M83 with something they would compose. I am definitely interested in hearing more from Conversing with Oceans. Check out “Deeper” (featuring John Forte) through Conversing with Oceans’ SoundCloud – Richard:

The Birds Over Arkansas have “So Much Sky” To Sing About
The Folk/Americana group Birds Over Arkansas is sharing with the ComicPop listeners their single “So Much Sky” . Scott Haskitt and Laura Hartshorn blend really well and have strong voices that don’t get lost within the instrumentals. Scott also plays guitar and Laura is the keyboardist of the group along with John Mondick on guitar, mandolin, and vocals and Ryan Berg on drums and percussion. With this single I like everything, but what they did at the beginning was my cup of tea. It sounds like they are emulating a vinyl record that is scratchy. This is nostalgic to some, but for me I like the nice clean crisp music and after the first 40ish seconds that is what the listener gets in spades. All in all this is a solid piece and look forward to hearing more from them. Birds Over Arkansas have the album this single is on scheduled to be released later this year, but as of this time I do not have the information of the album’s title. Until their album becomes available here is Birds over Arkansas’ “So Much Sky” through SoundCloud – Richard:

“She Cries” with SEE’s latest Music Video
SEE is sharing with our listeners again and this time it is for her emotional new music video, “She Cries”. SEE’s lower register voice brings a resonate sound to the topic of addiction. The video being in black and white gives the song an even more dramatic feel for the listener. It’s one of those stories that is always there of what people see in the public arena isn’t necessarily what is happening in private. Having the dancers in the music video dance out the fight scene was easier to watch, but still conveys how serious the struggle with addiction is for loved ones. Here’s SEE’s music video for “She Cries” through her YouTube channel – Richard:

Get Tangled in Nilu’s “A Thousand Tangled Lies”
Nilu is sharing with the ComicPop listeners her single “A Thousand Tangled Lies”. Nilu has also been featured on Grey’s Anatomy with her cover to “How to Save a Life” and on Pretty Little Liars. “A Thousand Tangled Lies”, co-produced by Randy Jackson (American Idol) has been described as being enchanting and I can see why. This single I could see firmly entrenched in a fantasy film or television series. It just has that flow that you hear from music in that genre. I love that the piano and, if I’m not wrong, cello are incorporated into the single and these two instruments just re-enforce that fantasyesque feel. Nilu herself has a deep soulful sound that fits the single really well. See what you think of Nilu’s “A Thousand Tangled Lies” through SoundCloud – Richard:
