The “MarvelUK” channel on YouTube was kind enough to post the trailer for the Captain America: Winter Soldier film. Looks good and it if I’m not mistaken it has one of my favorite characters in it, Falcon! Check it out below:

To Kill a MockingBird Banned Again in Community
After a convoluted series of events spanning at least a decade, the school board in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana last week removed Harper Lee’s classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird from classrooms throughout the district. After some parents of high school students recently complained that the book contained “offensive language” and “themes…[that] may not be suitable for children,” district officials conveniently remembered that it had already been banned there in 2000. Only newer teachers, who were unaware of the ban, had been using it in class, but their students didn’t get a chance to finish reading the book before it was pulled.
This is quite interesting and confusing at the same time. To read the rest of this article by Maren Williams click on the provided link: http://cbldf.org/2013/10/to-kill-a-mockingbird-re-banned-in-louisiana-school-district/
Hatsune Miku Song and Anime Short
In the YouTube video below from Shu Uemura’s page Hatsune Miku sings the theme for the anime short. The anime short is a tie-in for famed make-up artist Shu Uemura and contemporary artist Takashi Murakami’s “Six Hearts Princess” cosmetic line. It is entitled “6HP Pink & Black”. The short was produced by Marakami’s Ponkotan Studio with character design by mebae. Have fun with the short and Hatune Miku’s song:

JULIA WELDON
PREMIERES NEW VIDEO FOR
“CAREFUL IN THE DARK”
“Careful in the Dark,” is heavy on narrative. Visually resplendent and with costume design reminiscent of the fantastic work in Wes Andersen’s Moonrise Kingdom, it initially explores natural beauty and territory.
At first it seems it’ll be about two lovers’ virgin adventure into uncharted territory. In some sense it is, but that uncharted territory turns out to be riddled with obstacles. Moving from wrestling matches to pillow fights, the video charts the course of a relationship, through its highs and lows. As Julia sings that she is “hopelessly drawn to the battle and the blood,” we see why: the drama is engrossing, and even when it’s bad, it’s intense, full of meaning.
This is a very simple song with a slight folk sound. As mention above its about relationships and how they have there ups and downs. The main thing to remember is you have to work on relationships. Sometimes people take the easy way out, but if you go through those rough patches the relationship grows stronger. So I like that Julia kept this song simple and told a story with it. MANICANPARTY DEBUT S/T EP OUT OCTOBER 22 22 October 2013 |
|
Brooklyn’s finest purveyors of tasteful tribal pop, MANICANPARTY, drop their highly anticipated debut EP on October 22. Advance singles “Rebels In The Light” and “Monarch” laid their schtick pretty bare: intoxicating rhythms, yelps straight out of Hounds of Love, and hooks much more viscerally pleasing and chart-courting than anything Ms. Bush ever committed to tape. Sure looks good on paper, and turns out it sounds damn good, too. STREAM AND DOWNLOAD IT HERE Upcoming Shows: CMJ Audiofemme Showcase: Thursday October 17th @ Spike Hill – 5pm Wednesday October 30th @ Rockwood Muisc Hall
I love the name first of Manicanparty! Break it apart and you see what I mean. This is one when they described the music of Manicanparty as Tribal Pop I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Sometimes a high soprano like Jessica’s is hard to carry through in music. The percussion along with her soprano voice just hit some chord inside me that says “I like this”. I love the spotlight on the percussion section and can see where they derive this as tribal pop. I don’t know if Manicanparty will be for everyone one but you definitely need to check them out. More from MANICANPARTY: “Animal (Miike Snow Cover)” Video “Monarch” Video “Rebels In The Light” Video |
