ICv2 reports that the Adrianne Palicki and Ray Stevenson have been signed for roles in G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes. Palicki is slated to play Lady Jaye, a Joe, and Stevenson is slated to play Firefly, a Cobra ninja.
New D&D Supplement
Librarians that have patrons that like role playing games will want to pass on this information. Wizards of the Coast has announced a new Dungeons & Dragons supplement, Book of Vile Darkness, to be released in conjunction with the Syfy movie of the same name, in December. The suggested price will be $29.95. Libraries that pick up gaming books and have a collection of role playing manuals will also want to have this placed on pre-order so they can get it when it comes out.

New TCG For Star Trek
Librarians can let their patrons that enjoy Trading Card Gaming and also Star Trek might mention this new deck coming out. Bandai has announced, but has not given an exact release date yet, of a Star Trek Deck Building Game with a suggested price of $39.99. The deck will feature characters from the Star Trek: The Next Generation television series and movies. Bandai is planning on demos of the deck at the following conventions: GenCon; Anime Expo; and ComicCon.
Condolences to Two Families
This last week the Japanese Manga and Anime community have lost two individuals that will be missed. First Shinji Wada, manga creator, passed away on July 5 and then Hideo Tanaka, anime/live action director, passed away on July 9. The staff here at ComicPop Library want to extend our condolences and let the family know that they are in our thoughts.
One Piece at Universal Japan
If anyone is planning a trip to Japan or live in the area Universal Japan has opened a One Piece themed Sanji’s pirate restaurant and placed two statues in the park from the “Marineford War” storyline. Redakai To Debut
This will appeal to your patrons that like anime and trading card games. Redakai: Conquer the Kairu is set to debut on Cartoon Network on July 23 at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a tie in trading card game Redakai Lenticular, however these cards are not scheduled until August.
CLAMP Festival
The CLAMP Festival 2011 Tokyo will be held on September 24 at Tokyo’s Ajinomoto Stadium. Tickets go on sale on August 27, and with your ticket of 7,350 yen or roughly $91.00 you will get an original manga booklet by CLAMP. If you know of any of your patrons that are planning a trip to Tokyo during this time you might let them know of this event.
Hellboy Contest
Librarians let your Hellboy fans know that Dark Horse is having a Hellboy contest were a person is to recreate a Hellboy cover in any medium. The finished product will have to be scanned and sent to them no later than July 13. The winner of the contest will be selected on July 14. Up for grabs is the possibility to win a signed Hellboy: The Fury #1 and Hellboy Library Edition Vol. 4. Follow the link for the complete contest rules.
