Alba Lua Single

Alba Lua has released the single “Sell your soul – you’ll be free”.  The vocals on this song get lost behind the instrumentals and when the guitar comes in it sounds a lot like our friends Six60.  So I am assuming that Six60 is an influence for them.  Give them a try you might enjoy them and don’t forget to check out Wild Honey Pies website for more Indy music info. http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/

The Young Women Latest

The band The Young Women have released a single for your pleasure entitled “No Good”.  This is an acoustic song so if you come looking for a big pop song this one isn’t for you.  This feels more like a folk song to me.  It is a little bit of a slow song.  At the end they bring in more instruments for a fuller sound, which I wish they would have done earlier in the song for a much more interesting feel, but that’s just me.  You might like it how it is.  Thanks to Wild Honey Pie and visit them for additional Indy music news at: http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/

More “Kisses” for Everyone

kissesStudarus Kisses i1 sRGB 600x400 600x400 FALL IN LOVE AGAIN WITH KISSES [STREAM]

The dou Kisses is preping for the second LP, Kids in LA, to come out on May 14 on Cascine.  To wet our appetites they have shared their song “Huddle”.  You can definitely hear the Eighties influence in the music.  The voices are nice and clear which I always enjoy.  I don’t like it when instruments overpowers a singers voice.  I do want to hear the music and the different instruments being played.  However, many bands forget that the voice is also an instrument.  Thanks to Wild Honey Pie for the notice and check out their website for more Indy music news: http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/

R. Thomasin Album

R. Thomasin has released their self titled album for download here (http://rthomasin.bandcamp.com/album/r-thomasin).  Below is one of the songs from the album “Laurels”.  I do like their sound, but at times the instruments are to overpowering for me.  The lead singers voice blends in with the instruments really well, I kind of think of her sound like Enya and how her voice blended in with the instruments.  For more Indy Music news be sure to check out Wild Honey Pie at the following link: http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/

Color Collage Single

The first time I listened to Color Collage’s “Can’t Stay Put’ I didn’t enjoy it.  Maybe it was the mood I was in.  However, today while listening to it I really enjoyed the song.  Maybe it’s just one of those songs that has to grow on you or you have to be in the right mood for it.  Either way don’t take my word for it listen to it below and see what you think.  For more Indy music news link over to Wild Honey Pie: http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/

Music from Vampire Weekend

With a name like Vampire Weekend you kind of expect a goth sound to come from this band.  However, the two songs spotlighted here (“Diane Young” and “Step”) are very light and pleasant in tone.  I really like them and am interested enough to look into their whole 3rd album Modern Vampires of the City.  Thanks to Wild Honey Pie for sharing the two videos below.  Don’t let their name scare you away.  Check out both videos.  Out of the two I like “Step” best with it’s lyrics and how the video was shot with the Black and White imagery of the city.  “Diane Young” is an upbeat tune that is infectious and the video is really simple. Be sure to check out Wild Honey Pie for more Indy music news: http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/

Kid Mountain Single

Kid Mountain is 5 young gentlemen experimenting with their music.  Their single “Happies” is out there, but also strangely melodic.  This is one that you have to be open to and it won’t be for everyone, but check it out you might enjoy it.  For more Indy music news go to Wild Honey Pie: http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/

The Hands offer sample of their upcoming album Synethesia

hands A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR HANDS [STREAM]

This reminded me of the ’80’s or was it ’90’s sound (pretty sure it ’80’s) when the big thing was synthesizers. With the song “The Game is Changing Again” the band the Hands have grabbed hold of that feel and ran with it.  If you were a fan of the music back then you will probably be a fan of this one.  Thanks to Wild Honey Pie and be sure to visit their website for more music news: http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/

CHVRCHES “Recover” Music Video

Thanks to Wild Honey Pie for alerting everyone to CHVRCHES new music video “Recover” on YouTube.  It has a great Science Fiction flare to it and has an, what looks to me, update HAL in the video for 2001: A Space Odyssey.  This single uses the Synthesizer as its main instrument which fits well with the video.  They must have taken that into consideration when developing the music video.

Dawes Single “From My Window Seat”

The band Dawes will be playing at SXSW along with several other bands.  If you are in the area you will have some great music to listen to.  Below is a sample from their upcoming album Stories Don’t End, “From My Window Seat”.  When the lead singer of Dawes started sing my mind immediately flashed to Jackson Browne.  The way he sings is really reminiscent of Jackson Browne’s sound.  So if you know anybody that is a Jackson Browne fan, let them know about Dawes they might enjoy it.  One to consider adding to your collection when the album is released.  For more music go to http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/.
