We are just having fun reviewing and discussing comic books, graphic novels, manga, anime/animation, music and movies that we have recently read, listened to or watched.
Alphanaut’s single “Think too Much” really had a call back to the 1970’s for me. If you’ll forgive me, the single has that groovy feel to it. The animated music video that Alphanaut is sharing with us also feels like something from that time period. I like “Think too Much” and am interested in hearing more from Alphanaut. Just a quick note to everyone. After I post our first part of our interview with D.C. & C. Micheal McGannon today there will be a gap in posts until next Monday. I have an immediate family member that will be in the hospital for surgery so I will be there at the hospital and helping at home for a few days. Nicholas Wells is sharing with us his single “Empty Coffee Cups” from his upcoming album Stumbling Forward, that will be available October 6 to download from iTunes. If the album is anything like this single I am going to enjoy it very much. Nicholas goes back to an instrument that you don’t see featured very much with performers, the piano. I’ve always loved the back to basics music. You can jump right in with Nicholas and sing along with him to your hearts desire. For some reason Wolf Saga’s “Auburn Nights” takes me back to listening to songs in the 1980’s. I was in High School and just listening to all kinds of music, as any teenager does, and this would be one I would pick up just to sway my body to while singing it with the artist. It’s a fun song that isn’t fast or slow…it’s just right as the saying goes. Check out Wolf Saga’s “Auburn Nights through SoundCloud I think you will like it – Richard:
“Go” has an interesting sound mix. It has what I would say an Electric Soul sound. The rhythm of “Go” is infectious and catches your interest from the first beats. It has a strong bass beat that I enjoyed. However, that strong bass was also a little to strong. At times it overpowered Serengety’s vocals. I’m interested in hearing her do more, but I want her voice to be the star. I believe with the right single her voice could be a show stopper. Check out Serengety’s “Go” through SoundCloud – Richard:
CHCKLK has just recently released their single and music video for “The One”. This starts out with a dark feel to it that I didn’t quite expect, by just starting the song. I go into these without any knowledge of the group as much as I can so I don’t know their style and it is a fresh take from me. The dark music overpowers the lead singer, but that is intentional I feel because of the feeling the band wants the listener to experience. However, just by listening to it the first time without the video I had no context for why they wanted to go so dark. The upon watching the music video for “The One” it brought the single home for me and was much more enjoyable. So first time listeners it might take a while to get used to this single, but by CHCKLK sharing their music video with us through their YouTube channel, the first time listener will have a better experience in understanding the dark experience that I believe the band wants you to have. Put it this way if you are into the darker themes with your reading, viewing, and listening pleasure you will appreciate this single and music video – Richard:
