Starbase Studios Needs Your Help!

starbase-studios

Our friends down in Oklahoma City are in need of your support.  Over the past year we have become associated with Starbase Studios and many of their fan productions filmed there, i.e. Starship Valiant, Grissom, Melbourne, and Republic.  The studio is a volunteer studio and they have built several sets and have all of their equipment their ready for fan productions to use at no cost.  However, the studio is currently in the process of moving to a new location.  This move is not going to be a minor undertaking.

As stated they have all of the equipment that has to be moved, but also several sets that include: Medical Bay, Transporter Room, Briefing Room, and a 360 degree Bridge (which is pictured above).  The friends of the studio have set up a gofundme campaign to cover costs of moving all of their studio.  If you can support them in any way it would be greatly appreciated and you can keep the Star Trek fan film productions alive to continue with new fan film productions in the future.  Click on the link to go to their gofundme campaign: https://www.gofundme.com/new-home-for-starbase-studios

Ep 58 ComicPop Visits with the cast and crew of Star Trek Fan Production “Melbourne” Pt 1

ComicPop takes a trip down to Oklahoma City to Starbase Studios to be on set for the filming of Melbourne, a Star Trek Fan Film Production.  While there we were able to visit with some of the cast and crew of the production.  This and the forth coming parts of our Melbourne Visits series where recorded while filming was taking place so you will hear background noises like fans, bells, people working, and other noises as we recorded, but that just adds to the experience.  For our first visit we have: Paul Lewis; Ronald Seipel; Carly Shibby; Shaun Stillwell; Brittany Wilson; and Reshelle Warren.  Thanks to everyone and especially to Vance Major and Jeremy Minard for allowing us down during their filming we had a great time.

The ComicPop Crew retell their experience on their last trip to Starbase Studios in Oklahoma City.  We went down to help our friend Rene Perez with a Star Trek fan film that he is working on.  We find out the behind the scenes activities that crews do while filming.  Along with Rene we met several new friends to include: Colin Bryant, Alanna Forte, Richard Wells, Scott Johnson, Jennifer Free, Krystal Willis, John Snow, Hubert Roberts Jr., Owen Mills, Travis Horn, and Thomas Royall.  I hope I got everyone and if I didn’t I apologize, but everyone we met we had a great time with and can’t wait to see them again.

Starbase Studios GoFundMe Campaign

starbase

Did you ever want to be a part of Star Trek but didn’t know how?  Here is your chance.  Starbase Studios, located in Oklahoma City, has set up a GoFundMe campaign to build an additional set to assist film makers create Star Trek fan films.  The Studio already has a Classic 360 Constitution Class Ship bridge, a two person medical bay, and a transporter room (in the construction phase nearing completion).  The GoFundMe campaign is to help the Studio raise $3,500 to create a Briefing Room as the next set.

The Briefing Room was selected because, as Vance Major stated in our interview with him, is because it can be redressed into several different sets i.e. Captain’s Quarters, Mess Hall, Cargo Bay or Rec. Room.  Remember Starbase Studios is a nonprofit entity and they allow filmmakers to film their fan films at no charge.  As a GoFundMe campaign this is a realistic campaign that can be achieve with your help.
