New Yu-Gi-Oh! Booster Packs

Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that their new release Yu-Gi-Oh!: Cosmo Blazer booster packs will be released on January 25.  The set will only be available in booster packs and will contain 100 cards: 48 commons; 20 rares; 14 super rares; 10 ultra rares; and 8 secret rares.  So let all of your trading card gamers know and if your library hosts card gaming events you might pick up a few packs as give-aways or promos for the event.

More Yu-Gi-Oh Cards

Here is some information you will want to pass along to your TCG gamers, especially if you have a club that meets at your library to play.  Konami Digital Entertainment has released information on the rest of the years Yu-Gi-Oh products: August 28 will see the release of  the booster set Return of the Duelist; October 16 is the release of the Structure Deck Realm of the Sea Emporer; and December 11 is the release of the booster set Abyss Rising.

Gold Series Returns

This one is for all your Trading Card Game enthusiasts.  Konami is scheduled to release, Yu-Gi-Oh! Gold Series: Haunted Mine, on June 12.  This series is introducing  a Gold/Ghost Hybrid card.  The hybrid card will be a 3-D holographic image and have a gold border and gold text.  The series will be released in boxes of 25 cards for around $19.99.  The break down of the pack will be: 1 Gold Ghost Hybrid card; 2 Gold Rare cards; and 22 common cards.

New Yu-Gi-Oh hitting Shelves in Nov.

Don’t forget to let your gamers know about the latest release of new Yu-Gi-Oh TCG.  The new cards from Konami are booster packs titled Photon Shockwave.  The packs will be priced at a suggested price of $3.99 with a release date of November 15.  This is only a few weeks away, then gamers will need to start checking out their local stores that carry Yu-Gi-Oh cards.  A couple of the cards will be “Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon” and “Rescue Rabbit”.

Tournament Numbers Up

Here is some interesting numbers for libraries that have gaming fans.  ICv2 spoke with Yumi Hoashi, VP of Konami Digital Entertainment, and she reports that Yu-Gi-Oh tournament participant numbers are up for 2011.  The Regional Qualifiers was up 27% and the Championship Series was up 17%.  This might be something to consider and possibly make libraries think about hosting game play for the different trading card games as events.

Some Super Rare Cards back in Circulation

Konami has announced that two super rare variant cards, from previous releases, will be included in the Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s: Hidden Arsenal Special Edition.  The two cards will be sorted at a one per box ratio.  The cards are: “XX-Saber Emmersblade” and “Naturia Pineapple”.  The cards are scheduled as a July 12 street date.  Any librarians that have patrons into the Trading Card Games can use this as a talking point and possibly be the first to tell them about it.

Yu-Gi-Oh Gold!

Librarians that have Trading Card Gamers will want to pass this news along to them.  Especially if a patron is into Yu-Gi-Oh as a whole.  This June Konami is releasing Yu-Gi-Oh Gold Series 4: Pyramids Edition only to hobby retailers (Comic books stores/Gaming stores).  Hobby stores will also get 2 new playmats and there will be a third playmat that will only be available at stores that are Official Tournament stores.  Jump over to ICv2 for the brief article.
