ICv2 has shared the trailer for new episodes of the 7th series of Doctor Who. Looks like another fun season. Thanks to the BBC America TV channel on YouTube for the trailer:
Music from Vampire Weekend
With a name like Vampire Weekend you kind of expect a goth sound to come from this band. However, the two songs spotlighted here (“Diane Young” and “Step”) are very light and pleasant in tone. I really like them and am interested enough to look into their whole 3rd album Modern Vampires of the City. Thanks to Wild Honey Pie for sharing the two videos below. Don’t let their name scare you away. Check out both videos. Out of the two I like “Step” best with it’s lyrics and how the video was shot with the Black and White imagery of the city. “Diane Young” is an upbeat tune that is infectious and the video is really simple. Kid Mountain Single
Kid Mountain is 5 young gentlemen experimenting with their music. Their single “Happies” is out there, but also strangely melodic. This is one that you have to be open to and it won’t be for everyone, but check it out you might enjoy it. For more Indy music news go to Wild Honey Pie: http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/

Kodansha USA Donates to NY Library
Here, Here to Kodansha Comics USA branch. The company took it upon themselves to help out the Queens library by donated Manga to the library as part of the libraries efforts in recovering from Hurricane Sandy. Classy move Kodansha.
Kumi Shimizu said regarding the donation, “We, the Kodansha USA Group, are delighted to donate our books to help local libraries recover from the damage suffered during Hurricane Sandy. The Japanese people will never forget all the help that the United States provided when Japan was devastated by the Great Tohoku earthquake and tsunami which took place on March 11, 2011, and we’d like to take this opportunity to repay your generosity. The books are our silent ambassadors. And we hope everything is restored as soon as possible, and that the people of Queens enjoy our books.”
The Hands offer sample of their upcoming album Synethesia
This reminded me of the ’80’s or was it ’90’s sound (pretty sure it ’80’s) when the big thing was synthesizers. With the song “The Game is Changing Again” the band the Hands have grabbed hold of that feel and ran with it. If you were a fan of the music back then you will probably be a fan of this one.
