Reid Lee is giving our listeners the opportunity to listen to his recent single “Arrowheads”. Reid has a nice strong baritone voice that comes through nice and clear. The single has a soulful country feel with a touch of pop thrown in. This lends itself to the single with it’s rhythm having a steady subtle build, that captures the listener, until it crescendos at the end of the piece. “9 Tattoos” is a fun song by Christopher Hawley. It has a great light hearted rhythm that brings a smile to my face, right out of the box. It is also, what Logan and I would consider, a story song, which we both love. The lyrics that Christopher sings progresses in a linear fashion. This single reminds for what Paul Simon did with “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover”. It’s just a fun single. You probably heard Christopher’s music if you caught it spotlighted on The Good Guys and NFL AM. I definitely want to hear more from Christopher. Brian Fitzy is bring us some R&B with his single “No Idea”. Brian has a voice that is in the higher register and it fits well with the upbeat rhythm of this single. When you listen to it you kind of get a Hall & Oates feel minus the Oates. With his higher voice and the upbeat rhythm it gives the single a bright airy feel to it. Are you ready to jump into a time machine? The Gin Pennies single “Film Noir” captures the time period beautifully. The horns come in at the beginning and then you have Shanelle Lewis’ voice come in to seal the deal. Along with the horns The Gin Pennies bring out the stringed instruments that add to the atmosphere of the single. If you love film noir or that time period you will love this single. 23rd Hour is made up of the duo Sherry-Lynn Lee and George Paolini and they are sharing with us their music video “Hypothetically”. The single itself is a cross between lounge room and western elements. Sherry-Lynn has this powerful voice that comes in and the two mix it well with George’s softer lower voice and the way they sing it reminds you of a lounge room atmosphere or club even. The instrumentals are acoustical and then one instrument that sways the listener into the western genre is the steel guitar. The music video itself is an in studio filming of the two singing “Hypothetically” and spotlights the two individually and also that steel guitar I mentioned. Janet Blair gives our listeners a chance to check out her single “Eternity Grows”. With this single Janet falls what I would say is a Pop/Folk music style. I enjoy how the piano is playing staccato for the verse. For me when music is played that way it makes me want to get into the music and have fun. When Janet hits the chorus the single takes on a fullness that has the listener taking off and soaring. I’m interested in what else she has planned. Judge Roughneck is sharing with our listeners again, this time it is for their current single “The Girl”. Still enjoy the horns and reggae beat that Judge Roughneck gives us. In “The Girl” they have a smooth sound for the chorus that even calls into mind the beach songs of the day, while the verse is where you get the most reggae feel.
