L’Arc~en~Ciel will be having a world tour in 2012 and one of their stops will be in New York. Other stops will include Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei, Bangkok, London and Paris. ICv2’s site reports that WizKids will be releasing a new HeroClix six pack. The six pack is Watchmen Crimebusters Fast Forces 6-Pack and is scheduled for release on September 7, 2011. The characters in this six pack will be Rorschach, Nite Owl, Ozymandias, The Comedian, and pictured above, Dr. Manhattan and Silk Spectre. Let your gamers know and even you graphic novel readers know because Watchmen has always been a fan favorite in the comic book community.
ICv2’s site is reporting that Warner Bros. has optioned Craig Brewer to write and direct a trilogy of movies based on Edgar Rice Burrough’s Tarzan. Hollywood has tried this property in the past and each adaption just hasn’t hit with fans. If this comes to fruition hopefully it will do better.
For our librarian family in Canada, you will want to let your patrons that enjoy anime know that Trigun: Badlands Rumble movie might be coming to a theater near you. DC’s site discusses that the universe is not necessarily rebooting. They are just changing some customes, having some of the main characters be younger in age, but not necessarily changing the characters origin. DC’s site also gives out a few of the titles that will be getting new #1 issues: Wonder Woman; Green Arrrow, Aquaman; Flash; Savage Hawkman; Justice League International; Mister Terrific and Captian Atom.
DC Comic’s site is reporting that after the Flashpoint storyline, 52 #1 issues will be coming out in August. Justice League will be the first new #1 issue written by Geoff Johns and artwork by Jim Lee. DC is rebooting their universe and also making titles available digitally, to appeal to a new audience that they hope to bring into readership. Jim Lee is contributing by redesigning a number of superhero uniforms. All we can do is wait and see if this is a stunt or will it be the new statis quo.
ICv2’s site, linked below, has an article about the titles that TokyoPop had rights to produce. TokyoPop announced that rights of the manga titles they had will revert back to the Japanese owners. This will allow the owners to try to find another U.S. publishing house or the series will stop publication in the U.S. Hopefully the titles will find a home somewhere since Viz, Yen Press, Del Rey, Dark Horse and other smaller publshers that could pick up some of these titles.
ICv2’s site is reporting that the release dates for the upcoming Hobbit movies have been announced. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released on December 14, 2012 and The Hobbit: There and Back Again will be released on December 12, 2013. The brief article also reports that Orlando Bloom with reprise his role of Legolas in the films.
Aniplex also announced that the 1997-2001 Rurouni Kenshin OVA’s (Original Video Anime) will be released on Blu-Ray. Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal on August 24; Reflection on September 21; and The Movie on Oct. 26. To read the full article follow the link. AnimeNews Network’s site is reporting that Aniplex of America announced at FanimeCon that starting in June, Adult Swim will start airing Durarara!!. Durarara!! adapts Ryohgo Narita’s suspense light novels and has 26 episodes. So let all your patrons that enjoy anime to keep an eye out for this new series.
