A Treasure Lost
We are saddened to hear that Anne McCaffrey passed away Monday, November 21, at her home in Ireland. McCaffrey is most known for her Pern novels and many other Science Fiction/Fantasy novels. Our thoughts are with the McCaffrey family during this time.
Image Comcis Spotlighted
Anyone in the Oakland area on February 24-26 will want to check this convention out. The Oakland Convention Center is hosting the Image Comics and Amazing Comic Convention which will host the Image Expo for the three days spotlighting creator owned comics and the 20th Anniversary of Image Comics.
Monster Hunters’ Survival Guide Movie
ICv2 is reporting that Dwayne Johnson will be in an adaptation of Zenescope Entertainment’s Monster Hunters’ Survival Guide. If this is done right it could be an interesting movie.
K-ON! Screening at Midnight
K-ON! fans in Osaka will have a unique opportunity on December 3. The Apollo Cinemas 8 will be showing midnight screenings of the upcoming K-ON! film. The theater is warning individuals that drive to watch the screen will have to find alternate parking, because the parking lot that the Apollo Cinemas 8 is located closes for the night at midnight and reopens at 7:00 a.m. the that morning. Have fun at the screening.

Madoka Magica Exhibits
If their is anyone that will be traveling to Japan during December or February, or you happen to live in the Tokyo and Osaka area, MOVIC Promote Service’s is sponsoring two exhibits for “Puella Magi Madoka Magica Exhibit”. The exhibits will recreate scenes from the popular magical girl anime for visitors to view. The exhibit will be in Tokyo first from December 27 through the December 31 at the Sunshine City complex’s Culture Hall. Then it second exhibit will be in Osaka from February 10 through February 12 at the Asia and Pacific Trade Center ATC Hall.

Asa Butterfield, the young star of Hugo, has been offered the title role in Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game. The release date for this movie is currently set for March 15, 2013.
CBLDF at Library Conference
The Executive Director of Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, Charles Brownstein, spoke at the Long Island Resources Council’s 20th Annual Conference on Libraries and the Future. His presentation was over the history of censorship within the comic book industry and the challenge’s the industry will face in the future. DC Digital Waves
Batman Beyond and Justice League Beyond will be DC Comic’s first titles that will be distributed digitally first, starting in early February. Short segments, approximately 10 pages, of the story will be released weekly for $.99, then it will be published in a print edition at the end of the month for $3.99. DC is still testing the waters and making a few waves.
