Square Enix is streaming a video for the ending of their Final Fantasy XIV Massively Multi-Player Online Role-Playing Game. However gamers don’t fret in late November to early December they are looking to have Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn up and running. All of the accounts from the old game will be shifted over to the new game. Thanks to AnimeNews Network for the heads up and video:
The Kanda Fire Station in Tokyo’s Akihabara District had illustrator Tsukasa Nagano create a new mascot for the station. The mascot is the Moe character pictured above named Yokumi Kanda. The Yokumi character has already appeared on posters, tissue packets and other promotional materials for the station.
This weeks AMV Spotlight is on YouTuber “misterhalf22”. The song “Still Dreaming” performed by Silverstein and edits it around scenes from Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple. The editing is done really well and the song fits the show. The main draw back, as in some AMV’s is that subtitles are present in the edited scenes. For me this is a little bit of a distraction that can be eliminated by a couple of clicks of a controller. If you want to add in text or different background to augment the AMV that is one thing, but leaving subtitles in, for me, is distracting. Otherwise I liked the video. Check it out below:

If you remember at the first of the year we reported that Cardfight!! Vanguard was going to be released as a trail run here in the U.S. Evidently, this trading card game has become popular enough that Bushiroad has awarded UltraPro the license to produce and market Vanguard accessories which will include card sleeves, playmats, and deck cases. The expected release date is set for February 2013. If it has become popular in your area you might consider adding it to your library’s playing card tournament events.
DC Comics announced that it will have all of it DC and Vertigo titles available for all three e-reader devices. So if you have a DC fan in the house and they don’t want to deal with issues this will be a new alternative on the Kindle Bookstore, iBookstore, and Nook Bookstore.
CW Films has streamed a music video clip of “Umi yori Aoku” (“Bluer Than the Sea”). This is the theme song to Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita (This Boy, Picked up a Merman), sung by Hikaru Midorikawa. The DVD is available today to purchase in Japan. Is this a case of anime inspiring fashion? Could be. The first picture above is of the character Rei Ayanami, from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, while the second picture is of model Jourdan Dunn, at the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. You can tell that Dunn’s outfit resembles the plugsuit of the Rei character. Kind of a cool nod to have the fashion designer do this and it makes you wonder if as designers shift to younger individuals what will be the inspiration that they pull from. 007’s latest outing, Skyfall, looks to be another fun Bond film. This is the only wide release film for this weekend.
