Cardfight!! Popularity

If you remember at the first of the year we reported that Cardfight!! Vanguard was going to be released as a trail run here in the U.S.  Evidently, this trading card game has become popular enough that Bushiroad has awarded UltraPro the license to produce and market Vanguard accessories which will include card sleeves, playmats, and deck cases.  The expected release date is set for February 2013.  If it has become popular in your area you might consider adding it to your library’s playing card tournament events.

Anime Inspired Fashion

Is this a case of anime inspiring fashion?  Could be.  The first picture above is of the character Rei Ayanami, from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, while the second picture is of model Jourdan Dunn, at the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.  You can tell that Dunn’s outfit resembles the plugsuit of the Rei character.  Kind of a cool nod to have the fashion designer do this and it makes you wonder if as designers shift to younger individuals what will be the inspiration that they pull from.  For additional pictures of Dunn in her outfit follow the link below.  The show is scheduled to air December 4 on CBS at 9:00 p.m. CDT.

James Bond: Skyfall Trailer

007’s latest outing, Skyfall, looks to be another fun Bond film.  This is the only wide release film for this weekend.  All the other film releases are limited releases, so the Bond franchise still packs quite a punch if nobody is willing to go up against it.  Thanks to YahooMovies for the following trailer:

Uncle Bobby’s Wedding Kept on Shelf

The Brentwood Public Library Board of Trustees,  in Missouri, voted to keep Uncle Bobby’s Wedding by Sarah S. Brannen on it’s shelf after a parent challenged it as being illegal to have in the library because of it’s content being about same sex marriage.  Here are a some parts of the letter of explanation that the board used to keep this picture book on it’s shelves.  (“In the end, with all due respect, we have decided to keep the book in the collection.” and “the purpose of a library is to encourage literacy, and there’s no right or wrong type of material to do that….[W]hat is legal or acceptable can change, and it’s up to the patron to determine what is acceptable for her household.”
