Episode 27 of ComicPop Library: I Need to Grok

Hey, April here.  As y’all know, in this episode I am reviewing Six60.  During that review I may have sounded a bit harsh.  So I just want to say that I really like the group.  I was in my critique mode for this one I guess  lol.

April B. 🙂

Join Richard, Chris, Matt, April and Logan as they review and discuss the Hugo Award winner for Best Novel Stranger In a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein and the self-titled Six60 debut album that took six 2012 New Zealand Music Awards for “Single of the Year”, “Best Group”, “People’s Choice”, Highest Selling New Zealand Single & Album”, and “Radio Airplay Record of the Year”.

Mercedes-Benz Makes Anime Short

Mercedes-Benz is having Production I.G. make a 6 minute anime short, “Next A-Class”, to promote Benz’ new A-Class cars, in the Japanese market.  Mizuho Nishikubo, directed the short, with additional talent provided by Kazuchika Kise, the animator, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who was the character designer and Kenji Kawai, who scored the 6 minute short.  Below is a 30 second commercial for the short that will be released via Benz’ website at a date yet to be determined.  Thanks to YouTuber “responsejp” for providing the video clip:

Breaking Dawn Part 2 Trailer

Hopefully all you Twilight fans purchased your tickets for this weekend.  One of the strongest grossing franchises has it’s final out this weekend, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2.  If you didn’t get your tickets this weekend, it will be in theaters for a while so you can catch it the following week.  Thanks to YouTuber “clevverTV” for the following trailer:

DC Deck Building Game

Cryptozoic Entertainment is coming out with a DC Comics Deck-Building Game.  The deck will have 214 cards.  Release date for the game is for December 2012 and has a suggested retail price of $40.00.  So if any of the libraries out there are into card gaming and card gaming tournaments you might want to pick this set up.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Graphic Novel Trailer

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo graphic novel will be one that the larger libraries might want to pick up given the popularity of the novels.  Smaller libraries might want to strongly consider it, if there is a call for it.  Thanks to YouTuber “DCEntertainmentTV” for the following trailer:

Library Wars Live Action Film

Here is one movie I hope they bring over to the North American market.  It’s the live action film, Library Wars, which stars Junichi Okada as Atsushi Dojo and Nana Eikura as Iku Kasahara.  It is scheduled for an April release date in Japan and hopefully before the end of 2013 we will be able to purchase it.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network for the following video showing the actors and some scenes from the film:

Final Fantasy XIV Ending for a New Beginning

Square Enix is streaming a video for the ending of their Final Fantasy XIV Massively Multi-Player Online Role-Playing Game.  However gamers don’t fret in late November to early December they are looking to have Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn up and running.  All of the accounts from the old game will be shifted over to the new game.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network for the heads up and video:

AMV Spotlight of the Week

This weeks AMV Spotlight is on YouTuber “misterhalf22”.  The song “Still Dreaming” performed by Silverstein and edits it around scenes from Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple.  The editing is done really well and the song fits the show.  The main draw back, as in some AMV’s is that subtitles are present in the edited scenes.  For me this is a little bit of a distraction that can be eliminated by a couple of clicks of a controller.  If you want to add in text or different background to augment the AMV that is one thing, but leaving subtitles in, for me, is distracting.  Otherwise I liked the video.  Check it out below:
