A new anime series has started airing in Japan entitled Sword Art Online.  This is an adaptation of Reki Kawahara’s light novels.  Hopefully this will get picked up in the North American market.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network and YouTube for the following trailer:

009 Re: Cyborg

009 Re:Cyborg is a title you might want to mention to your library’s purchasing agent to put on their list to purchase for you anime collections.  This is an adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori’s Science Fiction manga 009 Cyborg which was also made into a anime series.  This title is an animated movie by Production I.G. and SANZIGEN Animation Studios and will be distributed by T-Joy in Japan in October.  So the title probably won’t show up in the North American market until December of 2012 or into the early part of 2013.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network and YouTube for the following trailer:

Will CW be Green with Envy

It has been announced that the DC adaptation of Green Arrow into a television series has made it to the schedule for the CW channel.  The hopes is that this will be another Smallville for them.  It will star Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow and Katie Cassidy as Dinah Lance/Black Canary.  As long as it’s good I’ll be watching.

What Inspires You?

Here’s more proof that science fiction and futuristic items can inspire someone to create it.  This video shows a radio controlled car that can transform from car mode to robot mode and back to car mode and function just like you would see with the popular Transformer franchise.  Kenji Ishida of Japan’s JS Robotics posted the following video of his work, Transformer Version 8.  Goes to show that anything you dream could one day become reality.  Thank you to AnimeNews Network and YouTube for the links:

Dragon Age Trailer

Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker will be one you will want to place in your libraries.  It not only has the anime crowd that will be interested, but the gaming crowd as well.  This film is the prequel to Dragon Age II video game by BioWare and Electronic Arts.  FUNimation is distributing the movie in the North American market and has it scheduled for release on May 29.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network and YouTube for the following trailer.

Remember to tell all the Star Wars fans in your library happy “May the 4th Be With You”.  Fans have taken this day as an unofficial holiday to celebrate the Star Wars franchise.

Also if you live in Kansas this would be a great day to spread the word that coming May 26, 2012 Star Wars will be at the Exploration Place in Wichita, Kansas.  “Star Wars: Where Science Meets” Imagination exhibit will feature Star Wars costumes and prop models along side actual science in today’s world.  When I did the interview with Linda Eaves you will remember that she offered Kansas libraries to contact her and see if they could work out a Summer Reading Certificate and if your patrons meet the requirements that it could be used to get a discounted ticket for the exhibit.  If you are interested contact Linda at her e-mail address: leaves@exploration.org
