AMV of the Week

In the spirit of the holidays I choose this week’s AMV.  YouTuber noburulez took the Christmas song “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” performed by N*SYNC and edited it to several different anime.  I was able to pick out Ramma 1/2, Chrono Crusade, Tenchi and Love Hina.  Noburulez did a nice job of editing all of the different scenes together and I couldn’t see very many hard jerks between edits, very smooth transitions.  Images were chosen because of their Christmas feel.  This AMV was just recently posted on YouTube so go to the site so go watch it and rate it.  You can find it under “MERY CHRISTMAS—AMV (MULTI ANIME MIX)” and check it out below as well.

Vertigo gets Tattooed by a Dragon

This will definitely be of interest that you will probably want your library to purchase.  Starting next year Vertigo will be publishing an adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy.  Each book will be published as two volume graphic novels for a total of six graphic novels.  The first novel, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, will be written by Denise Mina.  Depending on how much is adapted, this collection will probably be geared for your adult section.  Their are some rough parts in the novel that could warrant this shelf placement.

Figures and Coffee

Asahi Soft Drink company in Japan will be bundling Suzumiya Haruhi no Rittai figures with their cans of Wondo Morning Shot coffee.  The promotional cans will only be sold in Family Mart’s and will begin on December 20 and will be available while supplies last.  I wish they would have promotions like this here more often, one it would make my pocket book even lighter, but it would keep characters alive in the public eye for a longer period of time.

New Battleship Trailer

Hasbro wants us to like this movie.  Universal has released a new trailer for the Battleship movie.  To me it looks like a mix of G.I. Joe and Transformers SciFi battle to save the earth from aliens.  This movie might be fun if one goes into it for a fun ride and not looking for the next great movie.  You can almost bet Hasbro will also come out with a version of this game, if they already haven’t.  I know they have a few new versions of Battleship on the store shelves, but I really haven’t looked at them. Thanks to YahooMovies for the follow new trailer.

Graphic Novel Challenged in School Library

Word from the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) lets us know that a concerned parent is calling for the removal of Stuck in the Middle: Seventeen Comics from an Unpleasant Age for language and references to drugs, alcohol, and sex.  The title itself was praised in Booklist, New York Times, and Publishers Weekly.  The CBLDF along with American Library Association’s Office of Intellectual Freedom has sent a letter of support, to the school district for the library.  Follow the link below for the full article and letter that was sent to the school on CBLDF’s website.
