fear

This month Marvel came out with a new core set for their Marvel Legendary Deck Building Game called Villains.  It has been announced that Upper Deck will be releasing a 100 card expansion set entitled Legendary Villains – Fear Itself.  So all you gamers out there that like to collect the cards here is another set for you to look out for.

Alien Deck Building Game

Upper Deck has announced that in 2014 they will be releasing an Alien Legendary Deck Building Game.  There is no set artwork for the game or hard release date, but CCG collectors will probably want to sneak some extra money to the side to be ready for the games release to add to their collections.

New TCG for Marvel

This might be one Trading Card Game libraries will be interested in that have gaming collections and tournaments.  Upper Deck is working on a Marvel Universe deck building game.  It is being designed by Devin Low, formerly of Magic: The Gathering.  This game is fairly familiar in that players will battle each other, but it has one twist, the game itself has built in villains that attack the players trying to destroy them.  No release date is scheduled yet and the working title is Legendary.

Cutting up Comics?!

ICv2’s site is reporting that Upper Deck has collected older comics from Marvel’s past and are trimming out panels to attach to trading cards.  The set is call Marvel Beginnings Series 1.  This subset of cards is Marvel Ultimate Collection Panel Forms.  Even though they are cutting up comic books, shutter, I think this is a cool idea.  Let you patrons know about this new chase set built within the common cards of Marvel Beginnings.  I think most will enjoy it and might be the only way to own a piece of history like this.

Upper Deck Teams up with Marvel

For librarians that have patrons that like comic books and trading cards will want to share this information.  True most patrons interested in these two collectibles will be the same, but their might be a few that just collect one type of collectible.  For those patrons that only collect one type share with them that Upper Deck is producing a trading card series that when put together will form comic pages that tale the story of the Avengers: Kree-Skrull War.  This is a cool cross promotional and will give librarians some talking points with your patrons.  For the full article link below to ICv2.
