Toei Animation has announced that the new feature Mazinger Z will be debuting in theaters in Japan on January 18, 2018. Junji Shimizu is the director and the film will feature the new design for the Hover Pilder. When it is all said and done this might get a North American release, but no international dates have been released yet. Miraculous Ladybug is Coming to Nickelodeon
AnimeNews Network had a report this last week that Zag Entertainment founder, Jeremy Zag, is bringing Miraculous Ladybug, to the U.S., through Nickelodeon. The Toei Animation series is set to debut this fall on the channel, so all you parents that have young kids this might be a fun series to introduce your young superheroes to. Animation looks good and the theme song is already stuck in my head, and not in a bad way….I actually enjoy it. Sailor Moon being Streamed
It has been announced that Sailor Moon Crystal will be streamed on Hulu and Hulu+. Toei Animation the producer of the series will stream English Subbed episodes simultaneously with the Japanese episodes (1st and 3rd Saturday’s of each month). Viz Media which has the distribution rights for the North American market will have the episodes streaming on NeonAlley.com and Crunchyroll. Akira Toriyama Dragon Ball Exhibit
This spring and summer if you are going to be in Japan this is something you might want to check out. To coincide with the release of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods movie, publisher Shueisha, Toei Animation and the movies production committee is organizing a Dragon Ball exhibit. The exhibit is entitled “Akira Toriyama: The World of Dragon Ball” and will have 300 items featuring cel animation, original color illustrations, a video screen area, and other items. The exhibit opens on March 27 – April 15 on the eighth floor hall of the Nihonbashi Takashimaya store in Tokyo. There will be two other showings April 17 – 23 at Osaka and July 27 – September 1 at Nagoya. For more details about the exhibit follow the link below:
Toei Studios is Expanding Theme Park
Toei Kyoto Studio Park has been expanding it’s theme park to include a ukioye art gallery, ninja residence, and an anime museum. The museum will be a history on Toei Animation. Within the museum there will be interactive displays for One Piece, Precure and Kamen Rider. The park’s expanded sections are scheduled to open on September 15. So if you happen to be in the area or are planning a trip to Japan you might want to add this to your list of activities.
