“I Want It” from Olivver The Kid

blackpandaPRolliver

Olivver the Kid comes to us by way of his former band The Neighbourhood.  This is Bryan Sammis’ single, “I Want It’, released through the label Taste and Tone.  For the first sound after striking out on his own Sammis has a single that is a bit rock and a bit electronic.  He definitely can hit those higher notes, of the chorus, but I like him down in a more comfortable range which we get to hear while he is singing the verse.  This one will get people excited and ready to hear more.  Check out “I Want It’ through SoundCloud – Richard:

Neighbourhood Gives Us a Rap Feel

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
DEBUT NEW TRACK
The Neighbourhood aren’t a group usually associated with hip-hop – but they soon will be. They’re putting together a new mixtape – titled #000000 & #FFFFFF – which features a bunch of up-and-coming rap stars. They’ve put out three tracks and we’ve got the exclusive on the fourth. It’s called “Jealousy” and features Casey Veggies and 100s – the latter of whom has literally teleported down from the purple mothership where Andre 3000, Prince, and George Clinton reside.”
Who is this and what have they done with The Neighbourhood? I am confused by all of this. It’s not The Neighbourhoods style at all and I can’t figure out why they made the decision to feature rappers. I like rap fine but it shouldn’t be paired with The Neighbourhood. I didn’t enjoy the song and really hope they don’t do anything like this at all. The only part I was sort of into was the chorus but even that was a bit iffy for me. I love The Neighbourhood but this is too much of a stretch for me.

-April B.

This is quite a departure for The Neighbourhood and I can see how some people will be as April said “confused”.  For those that have not grown accustomed to The Neighbourhood they will see this as a rap or hip-hop song and go on their way.  It is definitely one that people will like or not.  Check it out from SoundCloud below and see what you think, you might enjoy it. – Richard

The Neighbourhood is in Your Neighbourhood

If you remember we have posted about The Neighbourhood for The Muse Box.  Well it was fun for April and I to hear The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” on the radio during our vacation and then finding their album for sale in stores along our families vacation travel route.  Congratulations to The Neighbourhood and The Muse Box for entering the national markets.  For you listening pleasure we have The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” from “TheNeighbourhoodVEVO” Channel on YouTube below:

The Neighbourhood is: Jesse Rutherford (vocals), Jeremy Freedman (guitar), Zach Abels (guitar), Mikey Margott (bass) & Bryan Sammis (drums)
Looked like a the guys had a great time.  The music was flowing and the atmosphere, with the grey filter that was used, I really liked.  It made Jesse’s outfit stand out even more.  Congrats to the band and keep up the hard work.  Be sure to click the link above to see the live performance.

(New York, NY; Columbia Records; October 17, 2013) Los Angeles five-piece The Neighbourhood has premiered a brand new video for “Afraid” today at VEVO.com. The video was directed by ENDS (Zachary Sekuler and Daniel Iglesias, Jr.), who also worked with the band on the video for hit single “Sweater Weather.” Praised by Billboard for its “edgy, subtle hooks,” “Afraid” is the second single from the band’s debut LP I Love You., which was released earlier this year on Columbia Records.

This is a powerful song and video.  When you click over to the video, it will give you warnings that it is explicit and if you have seizures you might not want to view the video.  It is a little depressing, but as April always says, sometimes you need this type of song (paraphrasing of course).  Check it out above and then below, if you like what you hear, you can check out their tour dates.
