Starbase Studios Time-Lapse Bridge Build

As most of our friends know Starbase Studios has recently relocated.  They are no longer in Oklahoma, but in Arkansas.  Over the holidays they moved the sets and have begun re-building them at their new home.  When the time comes and they are ready to schedule new fan film productions we will post to let everyone know.  Until then the group of The Federation Files YouTube channel has released a time-lapse video of them reconstructing the bridge.  Check it out these are two hard working gentlemen and I’m sure the productions of Valiant, Melbourne, Republic, and many others Star Trek fan film productions are glad to see the new studio taking shape:

Starship Valiant “Crosses To Bear” Trailer

This sneaked by me with everything that happened this past December with my family.  Our friend Michael L. King released the trailer and Star Trek fan film production “Crosses to Bear”.  We have the trailer and the film below that you can enjoy:

Starbase Studios Needs Your Help!

starbase-studios

Our friends down in Oklahoma City are in need of your support.  Over the past year we have become associated with Starbase Studios and many of their fan productions filmed there, i.e. Starship Valiant, Grissom, Melbourne, and Republic.  The studio is a volunteer studio and they have built several sets and have all of their equipment their ready for fan productions to use at no cost.  However, the studio is currently in the process of moving to a new location.  This move is not going to be a minor undertaking.

As stated they have all of the equipment that has to be moved, but also several sets that include: Medical Bay, Transporter Room, Briefing Room, and a 360 degree Bridge (which is pictured above).  The friends of the studio have set up a gofundme campaign to cover costs of moving all of their studio.  If you can support them in any way it would be greatly appreciated and you can keep the Star Trek fan film productions alive to continue with new fan film productions in the future.  Click on the link to go to their gofundme campaign: https://www.gofundme.com/new-home-for-starbase-studios

PenPals 2 – A Star Trek Fan Production

penpals2

Our friends Vance Major and Carly Shibby are sharing with everyone another installment for Pen Pals, with Pen Pals 2.  This is a crossover between Valiant and Melbourne Star Trek fan film productions that are being produced down at Starbase Studios in Oklahoma City.  We had a great time visiting with them and making new friends when we where down there during filming of Vance’s Melbourne production.  Here’s Pen Pals 2: A Star Trek Fan Production through Vance Major’s YouTube channel – Richard:

Major Props for Vance Major!

Vance Major

Check out the tweets that Vance Major has received for his project PenPals: A Star Trek Fan Production.  As you can see TrekSentry47 linked Vance’s YouTube fan film to John Van Citters and low and behold John commented on it for Vance.  This is very cool for Vance and if you didn’t catch it when we spotlighted his Star Trek fan film here it is again.  PenPals is a transmission from Chief Engineer Minard of the Valiant to the Chief Engineer Sierra of the Melbourne.  It shows that you can still have fun with Star Trek fan films and follow the guidelines that CBS/Paramount have given.  So congratulations to our good friend Vance, keep having fun!

Melbourne Producer Speaks Out!

Melbourne

Our friend Vance Major is the producer of the upcoming Star Trek fan film Melbourne.  Many of you will know that CBS/Paramount is in a heated lawsuit with the fan film Axanar, hopefully to be resolved soon.  However, Vance has notified us that the backer of the fan film Axanar, Alec Peters, has listed fan film directors and producers as signing on with a set of fan film guidelines that Mr. Peters, of Axanar has set forth.

According to Vance this is far from the truth. He wants to set the record straight and has provided for us the website Moby’s where he has provided his response to Mr. Peters.  Here is Vance’s excerpt:

Melbourne’s Response

I’ve been involved with Starbase Studios since December of 2013, and with Starship Valiant as a main cast member early on. When I decided to start my own production with Melbourne I knew that I would have obstacles. But nothing has put any of the productions in jeopardy like this whole business13312668_10157004754430077_2441102665951112438_n of Axanar.

I’ve never gone on record to bash anyone, I’ve nothing against Mr Peters, nor his production. But it seems as if every time there is some calming of the storm, something associated with him kicks the hornets nest. It’s hard to tell what’s the truth because nothing adds up. He does not speak for any of us in Melbourne. I make fan films. I work 72 hours a week and drive 4 hours to the studio to film. When I filmed with Starship Valiant in the sickbay scene, I was up for 36 hours before finally getting to sleep. I did everything out of passion. Not a paycheck.

I may lose fans or friends and I’m fine with that, but what he’s done has made things worse for those of us who just want to make some fun trek for ourselves. I’ve seen the vile talk from both sides of the Axanar side, and honestly that’s not what we should be doing. That’s not how we should be treating each other. We make fan films. We should have no agenda. We should have no hidden motive. We’re should just be living our dream. I speak for myself, and my film. No one speaks for me.

The website also has other friends of ours giving their responses about this situation from Starship Valiant and Starbase Studios.  Here is the direct link to the article to read other responses from fan film directors and producers:

Fan Film Guideline Fiasco

Thanks to Vance Major for sharing this with ComicPop to let our listeners know what has been transpiring in the world of Star Trek fan films and that some fan film directors and producers back CBS/Paramount in this matter instead of Axanar.
