Wizards of the Coast is releasing several products this year. First will be Into the Unknown: The Dungeon Survival Guide Hardback Book for $29.95, release date is scheduled for May 15th. Next will be the Miniatures game of Dungeon Command: Sting of Lolth faction packs for $39.99 with a release date of July 17. Finally Menzoberranzan Campaign Setting is for all the dungeon masters to help make campaigns for the roleplaying aspect, it is set for an August 21st release date. If your library has a roleplaying club, is getting a club started or just provides material for groups this is one you might want to check out for your library. Margaret Weis Productions is coming out with Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Basic Game, February 28. The game’s theme will be the “Breakout” storyline that is in New Avengers and will have a suggested retail price of $19.99. Future themes will include: “Civil War” in March; “Annihilation” in June; and “Age of Apocalypse” in September with a suggested retail price of $19.99 for each new addition. Each roleplaying theme will be presented in a paperback reference book for your gamers to use in setting up scenarios.
Mistborn Series to Get RPG
More news for your gamers. Crafty Games has set a release date of December 15, for Mistborn Adventure Game Role Playing Game (RPG). Most of you will recognize this title, especially if you read fantasy fiction. Of course Mistborn is the fantasy series written by Brandon Sanderson, whom is also contributing to the last books of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series.
History of RPG’s
ICv2 is reporting that Mongoose Publishing will be releasing a history of RPG’s (Role Playing Games) entitled Designs & Dragons. It will cover 60 years of gaming in the RPG arena. As of the time of the article there has been no firm release date or other ordering information. Keep on the look out for this title, it sounds like it will make a nice addition to your library collection. If not for anything else, but there isn’t much out there on the history of RPG’s.
Free RPG Day June 18, 2011
Libraries that have a lot of interest in Role Playing Games might want to pass this along to their patrons. Free RPG Day is on June 18, 2011. This is a less known event than Free Comic Book Day, but your patrons might visit their local comic book stores to see if they are participating in this event.
