Shehzad Bhanji takes our listeners on a journey with his instrument of choice, the electric guitar. Shehzad is sharing with us his music video for his single “Never Say Goodbye”. Shehzad is an instrumentalist that lets his guitar speak in his music. Most of you will recognized this type of music that was popularized by Carlos Santana. Ex Norwegian is coming out strong with their album Pure Gold. To give you a taste they are giving our listeners a treat with their music video for their single “On the Sidelines”. The single gives the listener a lighter sound, with a fun vibe. “On the Sidelines” has a Rock inspired sound with Pop mixed in. The rhythm is upbeat and ready to get you going. I listened to “On the Sidelines” several times trying to place the sound between Roger and Michelle. Then it hit me. For those that have watched Beck Mongolian Chop Squad, you will get this reference. For those of you that haven’t watched the anime – Go Watch It! It is a great rock story. Anyway back to Roger and Michelle and Beck. In Beck Yukio and Maho sing together and to me it is a similar sound that Roger and Michelle have. Even the beginning of the music video for “On the Sidelines” reminds me a little of the opening of Beck with the big sign. I love the sound that Ex Norwegian has an can’t wait to hear the rest of their album Pure Gold so we can let everyone know what we think about it in a future podcast. Victory Dance is hitting hard with it’s single “Memphis”. This single propelled me back to the Hair Band days. Very strong and powerful sound. This one just hits all the right buttons for me. Their EP The Spectrum is available to download and if it is anything like this single you will definitely want it. CeaseTone is making their US debut at SXSW. This Icelandic duo is sharing with our listeners their single “The Bright Side” music video. Even though the single is title “The Bright Side” the single has a darker tone to it. When listening to it I really felt a Gothic dark resonance from “The Bright Side”. The music video is one I enjoy because of the stop motion animation, but with others it will just depend on what you like. Ep 41 ComicPop Visits with Rhonda Rees about Book Piracy
The ComicPop Crew had the pleasure of visiting with Rhonda Rees on a topic she has had personal experience with, in part 1 of our interview. Rhonda is the author of Profit and Prosper with Public Relations: Insider Secrets to Make You a Success, which was pirated. With her recent accolades: Publicist of the Year from the Book Publicists of Southern California; an IRWIN Award (Industry Recognition of Writers in the News); and most recently Rhonda has been the recipient of the Publicist of the Year Award from the Bulldog Reporter, she has set about to educate the industry on the real threat of book piracy that exists not only for the big press, but for the small press as well.

Young Avz is sharing with us his single “This Love”. The single has a pop/rap feel that uses Young Avz’ voice to it’s advantage. The music video that was made for the single was done by Young Avz himself and really has an Empire feel to it (if you haven’t seen the show you are missing our on the drama!) John Dillon released his single “The Fox” from his upcoming album The Lost Estate. “The Fox” has a alternative rock sound to it and the way John’s voice is and the rhythm of the song, “The Fox” comes across a little reminiscent of The Cars. The Lost Estate is John’s debut album and will drop on March 25, so keep an eye on the digital music vendors.
