Ep 42 ComicPop Visits with Rhonda Rees about Book Piracy, Pt 2

Join the ComicPop Crew in our second part of our visit with Rhonda Rees of Rhonda Rees PR.  Rhonda is the author of Profit and Prosper with Public Relations: Insider Secrets to Make You a Success, which was pirated.  With her recent accolades: Publicist of the Year from the Book Publicists of Southern California; an IRWIN Award (Industry Recognition of Writers in the News); and most recently Rhonda has been the recipient of the Publicist of the Year Award from the Bulldog Reporter, she has set about to educate the industry on the real threat of book piracy that exists not only for the big press, but for the small press as well.

Thank you again to Rhonda for visiting with us.  It was a pleasure and we look forward to visiting with her again.  We have her title, Profit and Prosper with Public Relations: Insider Secrets to Make You a Success, that she is graciously allowing us to read and then get back with her to visit specifically about her book and the Public Relations field.

Shred Kelly Delivers Another Keeper with “Going Sideways”

museshred

Shred Kelly delivers another solid entry into the Folk genre, with “Going Sideways”.  Since being introduced to Shred Kelly I have enjoyed their music tremendously.  They have a bit of Mumford & Sons vibe to them that I think most people will enjoy.  The music video they have made for “Going Sideways” is very well made and very cinematic in style as it follows a downed pilot in the woods.  The scenery is beautiful and some of the shoots that are in the video are really unique and makes you wonder the fate of the pilot.  The music video is silent for the first few seconds, before the music comes in so don’t think you have to turn your sound up…nothing is wrong. Thanks to Shred Kelly for sharing, with us and our listeners, their music video of “Going Sideways” from their YouTube channel – Richard:

The Dumplings have released their second music video and want to share it with the ComicPop listeners.  Their second video is for the single “Kocham Byc z Toba”.  This single and video have a feel to them that conveys the passage of time.  Time is a steady flow and can’t be stopped.  Ups and downs will happen and everyone has to struggle through them.  Check out The Dumplings music video for “Kocham Byc z Toba” from their YouTube channel – Richard:

Shehzad Bhanji’s Music Video for “Never Say Goodbye

cyberpr1Shehzad

Shehzad Bhanji takes our listeners on a journey with his instrument of choice, the electric guitar.  Shehzad is sharing with us his music video for his single “Never Say Goodbye”.  Shehzad is an instrumentalist that lets his guitar speak in his music.  Most of you will recognized this type of music that was popularized by Carlos Santana.  Shehzad is carrying on that tradition well.  Check out “Never Say Goodbye’s” Music Video from Shehzad Bhanji’s YouTube channel – Richard:

Ex Norwegian’s Delivers “On the Sidelines”

sneak attack mediaExNorwegian

Ex Norwegian is coming out strong with their album Pure Gold.  To give you a taste they are giving our listeners a treat with their music video for their single “On the Sidelines”.  The single gives the listener a lighter sound, with a fun vibe.  “On the Sidelines” has a Rock inspired sound with Pop mixed in.  The rhythm is upbeat and ready to get you going.  I listened to “On the Sidelines” several times trying to place the sound between Roger and Michelle.  Then it hit me.  For those that have watched Beck Mongolian Chop Squad, you will get this reference.  For those of you that haven’t watched the anime – Go Watch It!  It is a great rock story.  Anyway back to Roger and Michelle and Beck.  In Beck Yukio and Maho sing together and to me it is a similar sound that Roger and Michelle have.  Even the beginning of the music video for “On the Sidelines” reminds me a little of the opening of Beck with the big sign.  I love the sound that Ex Norwegian has an can’t wait to hear the rest of their album Pure Gold so we can let everyone know what we think about it in a future podcast.  Until then have fun with Ex Norwegian’s “On the Sidelines” music video from their YouTube channel – Richard:
If you are in the area where they will be playing live check them out at:
Tonight March 15 – at The Cave in Chapel Hill, NC; March 16 – at Tree House Lounge in Washington DC; and March 18 at The Bowery Electric in New York

Victory Dance Hits with “Memphis”

city bird publicityvictory

Victory Dance is hitting hard with it’s single “Memphis”.  This single propelled me back to the Hair Band days.  Very strong and powerful sound.  This one just hits all the right buttons for me.  Their EP The Spectrum is available to download and if it is anything like this single you will definitely want it.  Take a listen to “Memphis” that Victory Dance is sharing with us through SoundCloud- Richard:

CeaseTone Looks to “The Bright Side”

museCeaseTone

CeaseTone is making their US debut at SXSW.  This Icelandic duo is sharing with our listeners their single “The Bright Side” music video.  Even though the single is title “The Bright Side” the single has a darker tone to it.  When listening to it I really felt a Gothic dark resonance from “The Bright Side”.  The music video is one I enjoy because of the stop motion animation, but with others it will just depend on what you like.  Check out CeaseTone’s “The Bright Side” from their YouTube channel and if you are at SXSW check the schedule to see when their session is to stop in and listen to them live – Richard:
