Marvel Comics and the American Cancer Society are teaming up!  In September five Marvel titles will have variant covers to commemorate National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.  The five titles that will have the variant covers are: All-New, All-Different Avengers #14; Captain America: Steve Rogers #6; Captain Marvel #9; Invincible Iron Man #13; and Mighty Thor #11.  So if you are a comic collector and like variant covers you might want to visit you local comic book store to see if you can get the covers.  Thanks to ICv2’s Nicole Bunge for the update.

Doc Savage Feature Names Lead

Doc SavageDoc Savage 1

I can see this.  Doc Savage has always been a pulp hero that doesn’t take itself to seriously and with Dwayne Johnson as Doc, to me is a nice piece of casting.  Johnson can be serious, but he can also be fun so I think this could work and don’t make it to cheesy of a movie in general.  Thanks to Nicole Bunge over at ICv2 for this info.

Two Graphic Novels on ALA’s Most Banned List

The two graphic novels above, Fun Home by Alison Bechdel and Habibi by Craig Thompson has made the American Library Association’s “Most Banned Books” list of 2015.  Remember these are the opinions of individuals that some would agree with and some would not, you would have to read each graphic novel yourself to see what you think.  For Fun Home was challenged for the following reasons “violence and other graphic images” and with Habibi for nudity, sexually explicit and unsuited for age group. Thanks to Nicole Bunge and ICv2 for the information.

Arrow/Flash Spin-off Given Title

legends

The CW has agreed to terms to air the Arrow/Flash spin-off.  The series title will be DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.  The story line will be:

“When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself.  Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?”

Hopefully the creative team for this series will keep up the quality that is associated with the Arrow and Flash.
