Biggest Production Deal Made

Marvel/Disney strikes a deal with New York and Netflix.  In the deal filming will begin on four Marvel series: Daredevil; Jessica Jones; Luke Cage; Iron Fist; plus a mini-series to wrap up the first season of all four of these series entitled Defenders.  All told it will be approximately 60 episodes total and Netflix will role out the series in 2015.

Mass Effect Feature in Select Theaters

AnimeNews Network has reported that the upcoming Mass Effect: Paragon Lost feature will be shown in very limited theaters. The following cities will have the feature.  If you live in the area check and see if it is showing close to you.  Links are provided below to purchase tickets.  The Blu-ray and DVD will be released December 28.

Marvel NOW!

Similar to DC’s New 52, Marvel will be revamping their universe.  The event comes out of the Avengers vs. X-Men event.  Titles will receive number 1 issues again and costumes will be redesigned.  This will take place in the later part of the year during October – December and possibly into the first part of 2013.  Librarians be prepared to recognize old heroes in slightly or completely different attire.

L’Arc-en-Ciel Concert Viewing

One Night only…Hatsune Miku

If you happen to live in the Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orange, San Francisco, or Seattle areas and happen to like J-Pop you will want to check around at your local concert venues.  The Vocaloid Hatsune Miku on November 10 will be broadcasting a concert to these 9 cities.  This is a one night event only, so check your area to find out where the concert will be broadcast and join in on this music event.

Fullmetal to Have Limited U.S. Release

Eleven Arts has stated that Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos will be showing in around 100 theaters this winter.  Your patrons will want to contact their local movie houses to see if they are going to be one of the lucky few theaters that will be showing this movie.  These releases usually happen in larger cities like New York, Denver, or San Francisco.

New York Comic Con

Akria Cast Questioned

Akira is facing the same question that arose with the cast of The Last Airbender.  Akira is being looked at for a live action movie from Hollywood.  At this time Warner Bros. is wanting the location of the story changed from Tokyo to New York.  By doing this they are also recasting the movie with Anglo actors, instead of casting actors with an Asian background.  The question is why does Hollywood feel the need to change the ethnicity in a story to make a movie?  Even with the location changed to New York, we are the United States where all ethnic backgrounds are to be blurred.  Check out the full story at ICv2’s site linked below.
