Music from Vampire Weekend

With a name like Vampire Weekend you kind of expect a goth sound to come from this band.  However, the two songs spotlighted here (“Diane Young” and “Step”) are very light and pleasant in tone.  I really like them and am interested enough to look into their whole 3rd album Modern Vampires of the City.  Thanks to Wild Honey Pie for sharing the two videos below.  Don’t let their name scare you away.  Check out both videos.  Out of the two I like “Step” best with it’s lyrics and how the video was shot with the Black and White imagery of the city.  “Diane Young” is an upbeat tune that is infectious and the video is really simple. CHVRCHES “Recover” Music Video

Thanks to Wild Honey Pie for alerting everyone to CHVRCHES new music video “Recover” on YouTube.  It has a great Science Fiction flare to it and has an, what looks to me, update HAL in the video for 2001: A Space Odyssey.  This single uses the Synthesizer as its main instrument which fits well with the video.  They must have taken that into consideration when developing the music video.

AMV Spotlight of the Week

This weeks spotlight is on YouTuber devotfeige.  This individual takes the song “Moves Like Jagger” performed by Maroon 5, featuring Christina Aguilera and edits in scenes from the new Sherlock series on BBC.  “Moves Like Jagger” has been an infectious song since it first came out, but marrying it to Sherlock you would not think it would work.  For some reason it does.  Each time I watch this AMV I enjoy it.  It helps that I like the song and the new Sherlock.  The editing together of the scenes is done well and images are used that pretty well match the song lyrics.  Fun all the way around, great job devotfeige.  You can check out the AMV on YouTube under “Sherlock: Moves Like Jagger” and it is also below:

Official “Weekender Girl” Video Released

Toy’s Factory has released Hatsune Miku’s music video to “Weekender Girl”.  Hatsune being a vocaloid means that several people helped with this creation.  Producers kz and Hachioji-P created the song and vocaloid producer Wakamura-P, helped create the video with the Project Diva staff and TNKS created the “Pansy” costume that Hatsune Miku wears in the video.  The song and video are a tie-in to Sega’s Hatsune Miku – Project Diva – F game.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network, Toy’s Factory and YouTube for the following video:

More Fun with the Miku Character

Sega has streamed two different items for the Hatsune Miku character.  The first is a music video commercial for the upcoming Miku-Project DIVA-f.  The commercial features, voice actress, Saki Fujita and 150 other individuals dancing to Htsune Miku’s “Weekender Girl”.  The second item is a commercial for the Miku Flick/02, which is available for the iPhone in Apple’s App Store for $10.99.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network, Sega and YouTube for the following videos:

AMV Spotlight of the

This weeks AMV comes from YouTuber potakun.  Potakun takes the song “Boom, Boom, Pow” performed by The Black Eyed Peas and edits it to a variety of anime.  The clips are smoothly edited together and potakun has matched up lyrics of the song with some of the characters speaking actions within the clips.  The sink is pretty good and makes the video funner to watch when the characters appear as if they are singing the song.  Great job potakun  you can find the AMV on YouTube under “Boom, Boom, Boom! AMV (Boom Boom Pow – Blackeyed Peas)” or you can check it out here:

AMV of the Week

This weeks AMV comes from YouTuber xxDxxMxx.  This YouTuber takes the song “Shake It!” performed by Metro Station and edits in several scenes from a variety of anime.  The cuts are quick cuts that are to the beat of the song.  Because of this there are a lot of quick flashes, so if you are prone to seizures this might not be the AMV for you.  It is an older AMV, but I just liked the feel good beat of the song and how the cuts keep the rhythm of the music.  It’s worth seeing again.  Great job xxDxxMxx.  You can check out the AMV on YouTube under “Shake It!” or watch it below:
