IDW has announced plans to bring about a comic book adaptation of the Back to the Future franchise. Stories will be centered around before the movies, between the movies, and in the alternate realities created by the time traveling. This could be a fun read for all the fans of the movies.
TMNT MiniComic Packs
If you are a comic book collector and/or into the “Turtles” this might interest you. IDW Publishing will be adding the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to its Micro Comic Fun Packs. The Fun Packs are scheduled for an April 1 release date (this is a weird date so hopefully they aren’t pulling our leg). The packs will contain one of four, 22 page mini comics, if you want to purchase them to add to you collections.
IDW has My Little Pony
This is a title that if you were unaware of you might want to pick up for you children’s graphic novel collections. IDW has the My Little Pony license and it has already released it’s second My Little Pony graphic novel and they should be able to be ordered from your jobbers your library uses or through a local comic book shop.

IDW Adapts Another Beagle Novel
IDW will be adapting Peter S. Beagle’s first Fantasy novel, Fine and Private Place. The scripts will be done by Peter B. Gillis and art by Eduardo Francisco. This will be a mini-series and then collected into a collected edition at a later date.
Don’t Forget Locke and Key
Locke and Key is written by Joe Hill and is one of my favorite reads. IDW Publishing has published 4 collected editions of this title and has a fifth in the works. The title is geared for upper teens (15 and Up) and adult readers. If your library does not have this title yet I strongly recommend it. The following trailer is provided by YouTuber TomWaltz:
IDW on Fire
IDW has announced that it has reached an agreement with Amazon to start releasing it’s graphic novels on the Kindle Fire. Only ten are available at this time, some of the titles are: Locke & Key, Vol. 1; Last Unicorn; and Parker: Hunter. Use the link below to get the other titles.
Magic the Gathering Promo Card
Librarians let your gamers know that in the second issue of the new Magic the Gathering comic book series, published by IDW Publishing, will have a game card with the comic. Most of your serious Magic players will probably know this, but it can still be used as a talking point.
Red Shirt Contest
IDW Publishing is having a contest in conjunction with Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF). To enter the contest a fan will need to e-mail a 300 word or less explanation of how their retailer is the best and how they would sacrifice themselves defending them to contest@IDWPublishing.com. The winning fan, along with their retailer, will be depicted on a variant cover of IDW’s Star Trek. The fan, retailer and CBLDF will each receive 100 copies of the variant cover. CBLDF will be able to use their copies to assist in future fund raisers. The winning fan will also receive the original art by the Sharp Brothers.
Battleship Galaxies will come with a Graphic Novel
ICv2’s site, linked below, is reporting that the new Battleship Galaxies boardgame, by Hasbro, will come with a graphic novel, printed by IDW Publishing. Librarians will definitely want to alert their patrons that are gamers, but their patrons that are into comic books and graphic novels might not be aware that the game will come with a graphic novel introduction to the Battleship Galaxies universe and game. This will also be a good talking point for librarians for both types of patrons to start a conversation.
