Hello Kitty and Playboy Hmmm
Did not see this mash-up coming. But I guess marketing is marketing even though it make you feel a little uncomfortable. Hello Kitty (celebrating it’s 40 anniversary) and Playboy (celebrating it’s 60 anniversary) have teamed up to provide merchandise to their fans in this mash-up of brand names. The French clothing & accessories retailer Colette created the merchandise and debuted it at Paris’ Crazy Horse caberet. Yuko Yamaguchi (Hello Kitty designer) and Sarah Andelman (Colette creative director & purchasing manager) where present. If this is something within your taste then you will want to link back to AnimeNews Network for pictures of the merchandise here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2014-03-03/hello-kitty-teams-up-with-playboy-for-a-new-kind-of-cute-sexy
Does Bart get a New Pet?
This one is a little strange, but that’s alright. Sanrio has announced that in 2014 there will be a merchandising crossover between Hello Kitty and The Simpsons. What is probably even more shocking is that age of these two properties. If you don’t keep track of how old things are this will shock you like it did me. In 2014, Hello Kitty turns 40 and The Simpsons turns 25. I don’t feel this old, but I guess I am.

Hello Kitty Getting some Love
Hello Kitty has shown up in two places this past week. The Hearts Dental Clinic has remodeled and has become a Hello Kitty themed dentist office. The owner stated that the remodel was done to have a different image than the “painful, scary image” of dentist office. The Hearts Dental Clinic is located in Tokyo’s Kota ward. Then Japan Airlines, Tokyo FM Broadcasting and Sanrio is sponsoring a Hello Kitty themed airliner. It is being done to raise awareness of cervical cancer as part of the ‘Hellosmile” project. The jetliner flies from Toyko’s Handeo Airport to Sapporo, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Okinawa until December.
