As part of Tatsunoko Production’s 55th Anniversary this year they produced an Inini-T Force anime series and film, part of the Gatchaman franchise. AnimeNews Network has reported that Viz Media has picked up the distribution rights for both so hopefully we’ll see them here in the North American market. The trailer below is for Inini-T Force the Movie: Farewell Gatchaman My Friend. Gatchaman was my first true dive into anime so I for one am definitely looking forward to this release. Here’s the trailer from Tatsuoko’s YouTube channel:
AMV Spotlight of the Week
This week’s AMV Spotlight is on “Fenix86R”. In this AMV, the individual takes the song “Bullet-Proof Skin” performed by Institute and edits in images from the Gatchaman OVA. The editing is done nicely and the song works, but to be honest I chose this AMV because I’m a little biased toward Gatchaman. When I was in elementary I would run home and watch Battle of the Planets. At the time I was so young that I had no idea that it was a Japanese property. Of course I know better now and anything that has any incarnation of Gatchaman hits my sweet spot. Have fun watching the AMV below from “Fenix86R” on YouTube:
Sneak Peak at Live Action Gatchaman
Gatchaman Live Action Movie
There is plans for a Summer 2013 release for a live action film of Gatchaman. It is being produced by Nikkatsu and distributed by TOHO. Toya Sato is slated as the director and the Science Ninja Team Gatchaman cast are: Tori Matsuzaka (Ken); Go Tyano (Jo); Ayame Goriki (Jun); Tatsuomi Hamada (Jinpei) and Ryohei Suzuki (Ryu). This will be an adaption of the classic anime.
