IDW Publishing has introduced a new Snake Eyes to the world of G. I. Joe and readers. The story is written by, long time G. I. Joe scribe, Larry Hama with art by Netho Diaz, who also did the cover art that we have pictured. The story takes the memories of Snake Eyes and implants them into a different person. Now remember G. I. Joe, even though is in a fairly present day setting, still uses fantastical storytelling, so just enjoy and have fun with it. The story lines runs through issue #246 – #250, of G. I. Joe: A Real American Hero, and will be collected afterwards by IDW for libraries and those that like collected editions rather than issues. Here’s the trailer from IDW’s YouTube channel:
IDW’s Next Hasbro Event
IDW and Hasbro has joined forces this past year to bring together Hasbro’s toy properties as a shared comic book universe, in the Revolutions storyline. The next event were G.I. Joe, Transformers, M.A.S.K., Rom, and Micronauts share is entitled First Strike. For floppy collectors you will be able to start picking this up with a #0 issue at your comic stores now. For collectors and libraries that prefer collected editions you know that IDW will more than likely do so for this event later this year.

New Battleship Trailer
Hasbro wants us to like this movie. Universal has released a new trailer for the Battleship movie. To me it looks like a mix of G.I. Joe and Transformers SciFi battle to save the earth from aliens. This movie might be fun if one goes into it for a fun ride and not looking for the next great movie. You can almost bet Hasbro will also come out with a version of this game, if they already haven’t. I know they have a few new versions of Battleship on the store shelves, but I really haven’t looked at them. Thanks to YahooMovies for the follow new trailer.
New “Joes” & “Cobras”
ICv2 reports that the Adrianne Palicki and Ray Stevenson have been signed for roles in G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes. Palicki is slated to play Lady Jaye, a Joe, and Stevenson is slated to play Firefly, a Cobra ninja.
G.I. Joe Sequel News
ICv2 has an article, see link below, that the G.I. Joe sequel has signed a director Jon Chu of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Also two of the cast members might not be back. I liked the Joe movie just for its pure fun. I’m hoping the next one will be fun as well, but with news like this it could be iffy.
G.I. Joe Sequel
ICv2 is reporting that Paramount is looking for a director to make the sequel of G.I. Joe. The article also reports that the project release date the Paramount is shotting for on this movie is the summer of 2012. So librarians can let their G.I. Joe fans now about this news. Link to the full article below.
G.I. Joe Prose
If libraries are looking for something a little different in your Graphic Novel section. Add some prose. Here’s one of the latest titles you can add to your collection. A library can put these items in right along with the graphic novels so it hits the target audience or place them in the Young Adult section and see if you can get some new readers (of military fiction or adventure) interested and steered toward the Graphic Novel section.
