FUNimation gets Legendary
AnimeNews Network is reporting that FUNimation will be releasing The Legend of the Legendary Heroes (Densetsu no Yusha no Densetsu). The anime series is an adaptation of Takaya Kagami’s fantasy light novels and is slated to be available on DVD and Blu-Ray next Spring.

6 New Licenses Announced by FUNimation
FUNimation announced at Anime Expo six new licenses that they acquired. The six titles are: science fiction story – Steins;Gate; a risque comedy – B Gata H Kei – Yamada’s First Time; post-apocalyptic – Deadman Wonderland; Fantasy – Baka and Test 2nd series; science fiction comedy – Cat Planet Cuties; and a financial thriller {C}. Vampires are Still In
FUNimation has released Dance in the Vampire Bund the complete season. If you can you might want to preview this before adding it to your collection. It looks like it might be a mature title, but I’m not positive, I’m going by images that I have found online. Watch the trailer below provide by FUNimation through YouTube to see if it might be something you want to add to your Anime Collection.
Chobits Haiku Contest
Dark Horse is having a Haiku contest for it’s Chobits title. Entries must be submitted by May 20th for a chance to win a FUNimation anime box set of Chobits or copies of Dark Horse’s Chobits Omnibus‘. Give the link below to your patrons that would be interested in this so they can enter.

Trigun Movie Coming to U.S.
Anime News Network’s site has an article on the new Trigun: Badlands Rumble movie. This is an older series so some newer librarians might not be familiar with the title. This was one of the funnier series that I have seen. The site also states that the movie will get a limited release in were some theaters will show the English Dubbed version of the film and others will receive the original Japanese undubbed verision. FUNimation gets Mass Effect
Libraries that have an anime fan base and gaming fan base will want to keep this title on their radar. BioWare has announced that FUNimation and the Japanese studio T.O. Entertainment will be teaming up to bring out a Mass Effect anime movie. Production is already in motion and they are aiming for a Summer 2012 release to DVD. Navarre sells FUNimation
ICv2 has an article concerning Navarre Corporation selling FUNimation for $24 million to an investment group which includes founder Gen Fukunaga. The article says Navarre will still be in the picture as FUNimation’s exclusive distributor and its logistics fulfillment services provider. Use the link here to read the full article.
Funimation gets Tales of Vesperia
Anime News Network is reporting that Funimation has acquired the rights of the 2009 anime film Tales of Vesperia to release in the United States. They also acquired rights for Fractale and Freezing. All of these are slated to be released next year. Follow the link to the article.
