Batman’s 75th Anniversary is this year. On July 23rd, 2014 (Batman Day) will be the day he is officially recognized as 75. However, you could decorate for the month in a Batman theme within your library. Just another chance to connect with your patrons with a program. Give it some thought it could be fun. Here is the look of the upcoming Flash in Arrow. It has been a while since we’ve seen Flash in a full body suit. Smallville didn’t have him in a costume and if I remember right they actually said that was Impluse. However, for those old enough or have seen the series from back in the 1990’s, I believe, will remember the Flash series and in it he had a full body costume. For the fans of CCG’s and Deck Building games the new DC game is one you will want to include in your collections. The game itself is Heroes Unite and is scheduled for release on the 26 (tomorrow). You can use this as its own game or you can combine this set with the 2012 DC Comics deck building game. The suggested retail price is $40.00.
Justice League: War is the next direct to video Warner Bros. Animation feature. This is one you will want to pick up for you animation collection. Warner Bros. has announced that Gal Gadot will be in the next Superman movie, portraying Wonder Woman. That means that the Big Three DC Comics Heroes will be in this movie (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman). Sounds interesting and we all know that Warner Bros. is trying to get into a franchise set around the Justice League as Disney has done with Marvel Entertaiment’s Avengers franchise with individual movies around the main movie. The movie is scheduled to be released July 17, 2015.
For all you video gamers today is the release date for Batman: Arkham Origins. This is one that many will want to add to their video game collection. Here is another one to make you feel old. Superman’s 75 Anniversary. In the short below Zack Snyder created an animated history of Superman and presented it at the New York Comic Con. The short is schedule to air on the Cartoon Network on October 16 and will be an extra on the Man of Steel DVD/Blu-ray release, set for November. So thanks to DC Comics YouTube Channel for having this available to share.
More collectibles for all you HeroClix collectors and gamers. WizKids will release on January 29, 2014 the new DC HeroClix: Superman and the Legion of Superheroes figures. The sub-themes will be: “Legion Espionage Squad”; “Legion Lost”; “Legion of Doom”; and “New Gods”. If you are a HeroClix fan I’m sure you will be putting your money back to the new sets.
ICv2 is reporting that the FOX network has placed and order for a Gotham series after a bidding war between networks. The show will feature a young Commissioner Gordon and will not feature Batman. It is to be along the lines of the old DC Comics series Gotham Central, which some of you might have in your collections.
