Netflix is looking to add to it’s rooster of original content. ICv2 is reporting that they have asked for a 10 episode season based on Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s, Dark Horse Comics, The Umbrella Academy. Universal Gable Productions has announced Steve Blackman as the executive producer and show runner and it is slated for a 2018 release.
Dark Horse Comics is continuing the Aliens franchise with Aliens: Dead Orbit. If you are a fan of this universe you will want to jump on board with issue #1 or if you prefer the collected editions for your library’s or for a public library Dark Horse is pretty good at collecting their series for just such a reason. Dark Horse Comics is coming out with a new supernatural apocalyptic series entitled Baltimore: The Red Kingdom, written by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden with art by Peter Bergting. For fans of this genre you might want to get the individual issues. However, Dark Horse usually collects their titles into a collected edition, which libraries and everyone that enjoys the collected editions will want to watch for towards the Spring or Summer on this title, which will probably when Dark Horse will release one. The Fifth Beatle: The Brian Epstein Story has been released in an expanded edition to add to your collections, written by Vivek J. Tiwary and art by Andrew C. Robinson. World of Tanks isn’t just a game anymore. Dark Horse Comics and World of Tanks have teamed up to bring everyone a comic book series based around the game. They have Garth Ennis and Carlos Esquerra working on the project, which are fan favorites. So if you are into single issues the first issue will be hitting soon and after the run I’m pretty sure it will be collected into a graphic novel format for collections that feature them. Neil Gaiman is teaming up with Colleen Doran and Dark Horse Comics to bring us Troll Bridge. If it is like anything else by Gaiman this one will be a must buy for all of his fans and readers. The I Am A Hero, by Kengo Hanazawa, rights have been acquired by Dark Horse Comics and was popular enough to have a live action film based on it open in Japan and the film has already started racking up awards at film festivals. It has won Grand Prize at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, Audience Award and the Jury Prize in the Orient Express section at Portugal’s Fantasporto-Oporto International Film Festival, and Grand Audience Award and Award for Best Special Effects at the 48th Sitges Film Festival in Catalonia, Spain. So with all this attention maybe we will see a distribution deal for I Am A Hero for the North American market as report by AnimeNews Network.
