The convention will be on October 30 through November 2 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Downtown Little Tokyo. Adult tickets will be $30 and Children tickets will be $20. More Cosplay…..
For those of us that will never get to Comic-Con, Comic-Con Episode IV A Fan’s Hope might be as close as we get. The documentary will have a very limited release and will get most of it’s money from Blu-Ray/DVD sales. This would be one for a library to get, so patrons that have expressed an interest in the convention can see what it would be like. For all the libraries in the Seattle, Washington area, the Sakura-Con is coming April 6 – 8. Some guest have already been announced on AnimeNews Network, which include anime director Yoshiaki Kawajiri and cellist/vocalist Kanon Wakeshima. You can find additional guest listed at the below links.
Anaheim, California, is the host city of AM2 convention. The convention will be June 15-17 at the Anaheim Convention Center and Anaheim Hilton. The library’s in the area might want to advertise the convention and spotlight the convention. Why spotlight the convention? Well first to let your anime fans now it’s coming, but also because the convention will be having two showings of the live action film Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
Here is something you can tell your patrons that enjoy cosplaying. Cosplaying might be dress-up for most people, however in the anime/manga conventions this hobby is taken very seriously. The individuals that participate are very talented in costume making, a master level is when he or she actually designs and constructs all of their costumes. If you have a patron that enjoys this hobby this will give them something to strive to attend in Japan. Each year they have the World Cosplay Summit. The summit is represented by 17 countries: Australia; Brazil; China; Denmark; Finland; France; Germany; Italy; Japan; Malaysia; The Netherlands; Mexico; Singapore; South Korea; Spain; Thailand; and The United States. This year the winners were from Brazil.

I hope all the librarians in the San Francisco area have told their patrons about WonderCon. WonderCon 2011 is fast approaching, like this weekend, April 1 – 3. If your patrons don’t already know about you might mention it or post a bulletin about it with the sites web address, which I have linked below. Everyone that is going have a fun time.
