I Am The Blues is a documentary that lovers of music and history will want to check out. This documentary, from director Daniel Cross, takes you to the Mississippi Delta and Louisiana Bayou to travel the roads that gave birth to the Blues. The importance of this documentary shouldn’t be ignored because without this extremely personal genre of music we would not have the majority of the music we listen to today. I Am The Blues will be receiving a limited release so check your local theaters to see if it will be in your area. Thanks to Film Movements YouTube channel for providing the trailer:
Year of October’s latest “Gone”
Year of October has a blending of Blues and Rock and that is evident in their latest single “Gone”. The verse with Phlecia carries the bluesy feel, but then the song takes a step back for Josh to do a rock guitar riff. This is an interesting mix and it worked for me. Warm Water from Banks
Banks has a sound of a seductive songstress. The quality of music is kind of Bluesy and her voice to me is similar to Bonnie Raitt. She only has three songs out that I could find at this time “Warm Water” (which is below as a video), “Fall Over”, and “Before I Ever Met You”. Looks like she is well on her way to getting enough material available to make an album. For more indie music be sure to check out Wild Honey Pie’s website: http://www.thewildhoneypie.com/
