Gundam Model Kit World Cup
This is something librarians can use with their Gundam fans to show interest in model kits. There is a group of individuals that do the model kits all around the world. It’s just the same as a car or airplane model kit which you might be more familiar with. I myself have one that I haven’t put together yet. These modelers are really exact or use the molds to kit bash and create unique Gundams or unique paint apps. for their Gundams. Anyway Bandai is setting up the 1st Gundam model kits contest, “Gunpla Builders World Cup 2011”. There will be 13 regions for the contest: Japan; China; Korea; Taiwan; Hong Kong; Singapore; Thailand; Malaysia; Philippines; Indonesia; Australia; Italy; and America. Lum-Chan Inspired Cosmetics
Bandai will begin selling a line of cosmetics with Lum-chan, from Rumiko Yatsura’s Urusei Uatsura, as the products spokesperson (image). The product will go on sale on July 29th and will have eyeliner for 1,260 yen ($16) and mascara for 1,575 yen ($20). This is something you can use for talking points with your young ladies that come into the library that are interested in anime and manga.
Thousand Sunny Dish
This is a fun little item that your patrons that are into One Piece or anime in general would probably like. It’s the One Piece Dream Dessert Dish: Thousand Sunny. Bandai’s official shopping site will have the Sunday dish up for pre-order Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Japan (Midnight EDT). The dish is approximately 10 inches long and comes with 2 forks that feature the characters Luffy and Chopper. The price tag on this cool item is 4,500 yen or $57.00 and is scheduled to ship in early November. Check out the full article at the link below.
New TCG For Star Trek
Librarians can let their patrons that enjoy Trading Card Gaming and also Star Trek might mention this new deck coming out. Bandai has announced, but has not given an exact release date yet, of a Star Trek Deck Building Game with a suggested price of $39.99. The deck will feature characters from the Star Trek: The Next Generation television series and movies. Bandai is planning on demos of the deck at the following conventions: GenCon; Anime Expo; and ComicCon.
This Residence is Evil!
This is for all of your patrons that enjoy Trading Card Games. Bandai is set to release Resident Evil Deck Building Game: Outbreak Expansion, during the fourth quarter. With this expansion set new characters will be introduced and the player him or herself can become infected and continue playing as an infected character.
Tekken to the Movies
AnimeNews Network is reporting that Tekken: Blood Vengeance produced by Namco Pictures and distributed by Bandai Entertainment will have a limited release to theaters. The date scheduled is July 26, so have your patrons that enjoy anime to start checking their local theaters. Even though it doesn’t have a list of theaters it is to be expected that it will be in the major metropolitan areas. Trailer is provided through YouTube.
