Hey everyone. The site has been idle for a few days because April, Logan, Luis, and I (Richard) attended the 10 annual Anime Festival Wichita this past weekend and we had a fun time. We had so much fun that when we got back we came into the studios last night and recorded a two part convention podcast, on all we did and saw. These podcasts will be up next week after I edit them and package them.

8-Bit Operator: A Tribute to Depeche Mode
Today is the release date of 8-BIT OPERATORS – A TRIBUTE TO DEPECHE MODE- Enjoy The Science. This date is also the 30th anniversary of the Apple II 8-bit computer that 8bitweapon and ComputeHer use on this release.
This entire album utilizes “microchip synthpunk” technology… the sound character delivered by various micro-chips made iconic in the late 20th century (in Nintendos, Ataris, Gameboys, Commodore 64s, Speak & Spells, etc.), and when these devices are musically re-tooled, adapted, or even “circuit-bent”, brand-new creative options and sound palettes are invented.
8-Bit Operators is in our schedule for a podcast review. So come back in a couple of weeks when we will be recording our ComicPop Rockin’ in the Dirt episodes. April is currently away on vacation, but we do have four episodes in the can before she left that will be coming out in the next few weeks. – Richard

Lexie Roth’s Latest Single “Lost Memory”
I can’t quite wrap my head around Lexie Roth’s music. Her instrumentals are soft and smooth, even when they pick up the pace a bit, but her voice is not. I feel like her voice was a little harsh for the song. She stuck out because she didn’t quite mesh well with the background music. The song in general I couldn’t get into either. It seemed rather monotone and I didn’t feel like it had any build up. It was relatively flat and I found it hard to listen to. None the less, Lexie does have a nice voice and if she finds the right sound for her I think she’ll go far.
-April B.
I’ve listened to Lexie Roth before and I do enjoy here voice. I believe this particular single just has to much behind her with the instruments. The instruments seem to be competing with her voice and kind of over powers it. This is unfortunate because as I said Lexie has a voice that I enjoy listening to. Check “Lost Memory” out provide to us from SoundCloud and check out her other singles as well. I think overall you will like her sound. – Richard
Get in the Grove with “Best Days of Our Lives”
Better Than All the Rest: Ajax Ray O’Vaque Reveals “Best Days of Our Lives” Single, Video
Anthony J. Resta’s alter ego launches first single from forthcoming Dreaming in Subtitles full-length out July 1st
The intro for Ajax’s “Best Days of Our Lives” was really cool, I really like the guitar part. I was kind of surprised when Ajax came in though, his voice is a little too high and airy for me to enjoy. I like all of the instrumentals and rhythms, they sound really awesome and the lyrics are really cool. His hook is good too and it gets in your head. The only thing I didn’t really like was, again, how high he sings. If he lowered it a bit I think I would enjoy it a lot more but I also know that there are people out there that will enjoy how the song is right now.
-April B.
When I hear this it takes me back to the ’50’s and ’60’s. Especially the sound which takes me back to when the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, or any other surfing band would produce. All the way from the rhythm of the music to the higher voices that was popular for male singers back then. – Richard

Neighbourhood Gives Us a Rap Feel
THE NEIGHBOURHOODDEBUT NEW TRACK“The Neighbourhood aren’t a group usually associated with hip-hop – but they soon will be. They’re putting together a new mixtape – titled #000000 & #FFFFFF – which features a bunch of up-and-coming rap stars. They’ve put out three tracks and we’ve got the exclusive on the fourth. It’s called “Jealousy” and features Casey Veggies and 100s – the latter of whom has literally teleported down from the purple mothership where Andre 3000, Prince, and George Clinton reside.”

Tanner releases “Come Alive” Music Video
Make way for Tanner Stewart, a rising rock vocalist putting his stamp on the musical landscape. Tanner’s self-titled debut EP will be released June 5, 2014. Check out the second single “Come Alive,” out now.
I love the edgy, raw sound to Tanner’s music. It’s rough and imperfect and I love that. The old school rock feel is easy to beat my head to and instantly interested me. The lyrics are great in ‘Come Alive’ and Tanner’s voice is awesome. His voice suits the music and makes sense. The music was soothing and edgy at the same time. Tanner’s definitely peaked my interest and I think he’s got a bright future in front of him.
-April B.
