We are just having fun reviewing and discussing comic books, graphic novels, manga, anime/animation, music and movies that we have recently read, listened to or watched.
Didn’t know or think this would happen but it did….Death Note the Musical. HoriPro began streaming a sampling of the songs which you can see below, from their YouTube channel. So Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata get to see another incarnation of their manga and I have to admit listening to some of the songs they aren’t to bad.
Hopefully this report will come about, at this point it is just a possibility. Legendary that has the rights to Pacific Rim is looking at doing a four issue comic book mini-series on the title, to be called Tales from the Drift. Also, Universal is in production of a sequel to Pacific Rim that has a current release date for April 7, 2017. I know with this movie people either loved it or hated it, but I happened to like the film so I’m excited.
CAPCOM promoting Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate game with a tour to different venues. From March 28 to August 10 Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park in Los Angeles, California. On the parks Goliath roller coaster the train has been redecoed to be a Gore Magala monster, the park will have additional outside displays (some pictured above), and the park will also have special Monster Hunter merchandise to purchase. Very cool that this is happening in a U.S. park.
Joe Kelly and J.M. Ken Niimura’s I Kill Giants graphic novel is in the works to become a live action film. Treehouse Pictures has selected Chris Columbus to produce the film and Anders Walter to direct. This is one of those titles that every library should have on their shelves.
The Pokemon franchise is adding another film to their credits. This July, in Japan, the Pokemon Company of Japan will be releasing the latest Pokemon film entitled Pokemon the Movie XY: Ring no Chomajin Hoopa. This being part of the Pokemon universe you can almost be positive that this movie will get a North American DVD/Blu-Ray release. Here is the trailer from the Pokemon Company Japan’s YouTube channel:
AnimeNews Nework has released a post about a new upcoming anime entitled Charlotte. Might not sound like much but if you are a fan of Angel Beats! you will definitely be interested in Charlotte. Jun Maeda is the writer for Charlotte and she was also the writer for Angel Beats!, if you haven’t seen it you need to find a copy of the series and watch it. My family really enjoyed Angel Beats! P.A. Works will be providing the animation for the series and Na-Ga is doing the original character designs. As popular and good that Angel Beats! was hopefully after Charlotte’s run on TV we will get it over here through one of the North American distributors. More Kumamate Bears are coming out through the Animate chain store. A couple are pictured above that where inspired by Card Captor Sakura and Yowamushi Pedal Grande Road. Not sure if this will be obtainable here, but check with your favorite anime/manga retailer. They are kind of cute.
Viz has announced that they have acquired the rights to translate Bloody Mary, by Akaza Samamiya, and Honey So Sweet, by Amu Meguro. These two titles will be published through Viz’ Shojo Beat imprint. Of course both involve a romantic storyline. Bloody Mary set in the world of Vampires and Vampire Hunters and Honey So Sweet is a high school story. They are slated for release in December and January.
Square Enix has given everyone a true teaser trailer for the upcoming Mevius Final Fantasy game. The trailer was released at the Game Developers Conference this week. Yoshinori Kitas will produce the game and Kazushige Nojima will be writing the story for it. Mevius in some way is to be related to the first Final Fantasy game, but is not a retelling of the game. DragonBall Xenoverse was released this past February 24 to purchase. If you are a DragonBall fan you will definitely want to pick it up and gamers in general usually like the DragonBall video games so this is one everyone might want to add to their collection.
