X-Men/Spider-Man Parties

Today comic stores will be receiving copies of X-Men #7.  What’s so special about that?  Well some retailers are having a “party” event for this release.  If your library patrons get to the retailers fast enough there will be free Limited prints by Marko Djurdjevic.  Follow the link to Marvel’s website for the full article and Marvel has a link of participating retailers around the country.

ALA and CBLDF

I know this is an older article, but I wanted to let the library community know that our own American Library Association appreciates the efforts of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.  The American Library Association awarded CBLDF the Robert B. Downs Intellectual Freedom Award this January.  Follow the link for the full article on CBLDF’s website.

Paul Pope has given his time and talent to help support the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund with a limited print for donors of $500.00.  Follow the link below to CBLDF’s website to learn more about them fighting the 1st Amendment right battle for the comic book medium.  Below is a short documentary with Paul Pope talking about his print and CBLDF’s mission.

Fantastic Four in the News

Seems that Marvel’s shack up is hitting all of the news outlets.  You can pretty much go to any search engine and get results to a variety of articles.  We have provided a link to Marvel’s website were Jonathan Hickman discusses the death of the Human Torch.  But lets be honest, in comic books death is a relative aspect.  And what can be more literal than the Human Torch rising up again in the flames of the phoenix.  Just when his return might be is up in the air, because it was several years before we saw the return of Jason Todd (2nd Robin) and the longest length of time before a return that I’m aware of is Bucky returning first as Winter Soldier and is now currently the new Captain America.
