Ep 19 ComicPop Visits with the Indie Rock Band Phoenix Ash

The ComicPop Crew spends some time visiting with the members of Phoenix Ash.  The band is based out of San Francisco and is an Indie Rock band influenced by Japan’s J-Rock.  Phoenix Ash is back on the scene with a new album From Dust and have currently released on their website (see below) “New Journey”, “Stumble and Fall”, and “Last Chance”.  There will be more releases forthcoming from the new album and you can also purchase their previous album, Transcend, on their site.

Phoenix Ash has been on a two year hiatus gearing up for this years new album and look for them on the concert circuit beginning this coming Spring.  This is a group of great guys and we had a fun time visiting with them.  Thanks to Aaron for setting this up.

Call To Duty Ghosts Trailer

Another military video game I missed Call To Duty: Ghosts.  This is one you will definitely want as part of your gaming collection.  Thanks to “CALLOFDUTY” on YouTube for the following trailer:

Battlefield 4 Trailer

Battlefield 4 came out during the last part of October and I didn’t get it posted.  This is one that if you love military games you will probably want to add to your gaming collection.  Thanks to “Battlefield” on YouTube for the following trailer:

Book Thief Trailer

Hopefully the Book Thief will be released in your area.  The Book Thief was one of those books that everyone that read it loved it.  The movie is getting a limited release, but maybe if enough people attend the movie, it could still get a wide release.  Thanks to “MOVIECLIPS Trailers” on YouTube for the following trailer:

Phoenix Ash Cover’s Siam Shade’s “Still We Go”

One band that resonates with Phoenix Ash is Siam Shade.  Siam Shade just recently release the song “Still We Go”.  The first thing the Phoenix Ash members wanted to do was make a tribute cover to the song.  This is mentioned in the Visit we had with the band and you will be able to hear that Visit tomorrow morning when it is uploaded.  But today I want you to enjoy Phoenix Ash’s tribute to Siam Shade.  Be ready because, if you haven’t heard them before, Phoenix Ash will knock you socks off.  They have a great rock sound and they are ready to rise back up into the industry.  Thanks to Aaron and the bands YouTube channel “phoenixashmusic” and enjoy the “Still We Go” music video below and remember to be here tomorrow when we upload our Visit with the band:

Julia Weldon’s latest Music Video

JULIA WELDON
PREMIERES NEW VIDEO FOR
“YOU NEVER KNOW”

“You Never Know” is one of themost vulnerable tracks on Julia Weldon’s sophomore album Light Is a Ghost.

Produced by Saul MacWilliams (Ingrid Michaelson, Dan Romer) and featuring Adam Christgau (Sia, Tegan and Sara) on drums, the album showcases Weldon’s storytelling, voice, and unmistakable charisma.

She draws on everything from indie folk to blues rock, dialoguing with current artists like Bon Iver, Iron and Wine, and Cat Power as well as legends like Bob Dylan, Elliott Smith and Suzanne Vega.

Julia Weldon’s possessing personality and captivating music crosses bridges and divides. With unfailing fingers, she tells stories that feel both intensely personal and widely universal. Unapologetically herself, Weldon’s songs grab you— asking you to pull up a chair, pour yourself a whiskey, and stay a while.

The song overall I liked.  I was a little zoned out at the beginning because the intro was a little too long and she didn’t actually start singing until a bet later than what I would’ve liked.  Be careful not to lose the audience.  I like that you went with a melodic song and really enjoyed the lyrics to.  I think the beginning of the video was really confusing and it could have been executed a bit differently.  Overall I think Julia has a lot of great things going for her and is looking at a bright future of growing and conquering.  April B.

Cool Japanese Red Cross Promotional

The Japanese Red Cross Society is doing a cool promotional, for blood donations, in the Ibaraki prefecture.  While supplies last the anime Girls und Panzer is collaborating with the Red Cross to help promote blood donations from teens and individuals in their 20’s.  Donors will receive a special Girls und Panzer souvenir card after they have donated.  The other cool factoid is that the story of Girls und Panzer is set in the town Oarai, which is in the Ibaraki prefecture.  It would be cool if something like this could be done with the North American Red Cross and superheroes.
