New Card Game

Shadows Over Camelot: The Card Game, by Days of Wonder, is one that libraries that have a strong gaming community might want to consider picking up.  The game can be played by 1 up to 7 players and is a stand alone game that lasts about 20 minutes.  So this would be great for a gaming day in the library.  It is scheduled for an October release date and has a suggested retail price of $25.00.  For more information follow the link below:

Coming up for Auction

Japan’s Visual Art’s Rewrite Harvest festa! will be going up for auction on Japan’s Yahoo Auctions Japan.  This vehicle is a wrapped van not a painted van.  Major difference since it is a wrapped vehicle, because this vehicle has some wear to it.  The van was used to a promotional tour in Japan that went to eleven regions for the game.  Still it’s kind of cool.  The auction begins September 3 and goes to September 17.  Follow the link below to get additional pics including some close ups of the wrap.

Yes that’s right Nami’s prized Mikan oranges will be sold in stores (straight out of One Piece), just not in the U.S.  Starting in October Japanese supermarkets and department stores will begin selling Nami’s Mikan ~Premium~ oranges.  They are prized for their “sweetness”  You can see an add for them above and there will be different size boxes that customers can choose from with different artwork on each size.  Just plain fun!

“Like”, Free Speech?

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund website has an article by Becca Hoekstra about Facebook “Like”s.  In Hampton, Virginia six employees of the sheriff’s department were fired for supporting an opposing candidate in an upcoming sheriff election.  Three employee’s were dismissed because of “Liking” the opposing sheriff candidate.  The employee’s took the issue to the courts and a U.S. District  judge determined that “‘liking’ a Facebook page was insufficient speech to merit constitutional protection”.  Facebook and the ACLU are challenging this decision that “Liking” on Facebook should be consider free speech, under the U.S. Constitution.  Read the full article at the link below:
