Movies of Interest for this Weekend

There are three movies that will be of interest to library patrons of different likes:  1st is Dylan Dog which will appeal to your gamer, supernatural, and comic book fans; 2nd 13 Assassins will appeal to your anime, manga, and foreign film fans; and 3rd Hoodwinked Too will appeal to your animation fans.  Trailers for each are provided by Yahoo Movies.

Win the Art of Alice & Lithograph

Librarians let all your gamers know about this contest.  Dark Horse is having another contest where two winners will win a signed copies of the Art of Alice book and lithograph.  EA Games is helping co-sponsor this contest.  Contestants will have to submit fan art by May 10th to be entered in the contest.  Below is the link that will let them know the official rules on Dark Horse’s site.

23rd James Bond Announced

ICv2’s site is reporting that Sony and MGM are financing a 23rd James Bond film.  Daniel Craig will be James Bond again and along with him Judi Dench will be M.  James Bond fans will rejoice.  This character is enough of an action “super” hero that your library’s comic book fans will more than likely be interested in this news.  Link below to the full article.

HeroClix Gets in a Street Fight

Librarians that have gamers that come in can use this as talking points.  HeroClix by WizKids have added the Street Fighter license to their HeroClix line.  There will be a starter pack of six characters, for $19.99, and/or gamers can purchase individual packed figures, for $2.99.  The single packaged figures are a new marketing strategy for WizKids which usually packages their gaming pieces four to a box.  The line is slated to be available August 10, 2011.  Follow the link, to ICv2, for the complete story.

Flow to perform at two Anime Conventions

Librarians in the Illinois area and Northern California area need to relay this information to their patrons that like JPop.  The group Flow will be performing at the Anime Central convention in Illinois, on May 20th, and again over the May 27-30 weekend, at the FanimeCon 2011 MusicFest.  Watch the bands two announcements below.

Dark Horse Star Wars Contest

Librarians let your patrons know that Dark Horse’s site is having another contest.  This one is a Star Wars: Crimson Empire III related contest were the person that enters just has to put text to the above panel.  Entries have to be posted on Dark Horse’s site by April 29.  This will appeal to your comic book patrons and the patrons that enjoy Star Wars.  Linked below is the contest page.

Rex Mundi gets Legacy Writers

ICv2’s site is reporting, linked below, that Infinitum Nihil company has hired the Tron: Legacy writers to write the movie adaptation of Rex Mundi.  Infinitum Nihil is Johnny Depp’s production company so hopefully this has some steam behind it now that writers have been hired.  For those unfamiliar with the story, it is an alternate history story about the search for the Holy Grail in a world still ruled by the Catholic Church.
