We are just having fun reviewing and discussing comic books, graphic novels, manga, anime/animation, music and movies that we have recently read, listened to or watched.
All you children of the ’80’s, The Singularity is the band for you. Magnum PR gives us our first posting from their company and it’s a winner for me. Magnum PR and Katie Trimble are sharing The Singularity’s music video “Wetter” through the “A Jude” YouTube channel. The “Wetter” single is a flashback to the 1980’s with an electronic sound. If the rest of their EP, Weta, is anything like this single you will want to check out their music. The music video is a mixture of animation and anime/live action overlays. Again for me I love it because I enjoy animation. The video also has a little bit of a call back to the Rick Astley music video for ‘Never Gonna Give You Up”, dancing with a wall as the background. What if there was an Empire-focussed short Star Wars animation, drawn with the crazy detail and shading of classic 80s anime that’s all but vanished from Japan nowadays?
Well, I tried my best. Apologies in advance for not living up to Venus Wars standards.
Drawn and animated by yours truly over 4 years’ worth of weekends, with music by the living guitar solo Zak Rahman and sound design by up and coming audio technician Joseph Leyva. Fans of Lucasarts’ seminal 1994 TIE Fighter game may notice a few familiar sights and sounds. That “incoming missile” noise gives me horrible flashbacks to this day…
Special thanks to the good folk at Lucasfilm for encouraging people to get creative and make these kind of projects. It’s thanks to their extremely fan-friendly nature that we can enjoy IMPS: The Relentless, TROOPS, etc.

“This Moment (Eckhart Tolle)” is the latest release from Janine and the Mixtape. Janine’s voice just captures me from the start. The transition from the verse to the chorus hit just right to give “This Moment” an extra push with the down beat. The music video is also enjoyable to watch…great job all around. This series looks to be a good read. The final installment of Patrick Carman’s Pulse Series, Quake, came out last month. We have the trailer for the first book here thanks to HarperTeen’s YouTube channel. If you didn’t catch this one when it came out you might want to go back and check it out. I’ve placed it on my ever growing reading list.

The Pokemon franchise is adding another film to their credits. This July, in Japan, the Pokemon Company of Japan will be releasing the latest Pokemon film entitled Pokemon the Movie XY: Ring no Chomajin Hoopa. This being part of the Pokemon universe you can almost be positive that this movie will get a North American DVD/Blu-Ray release.
