Fun with Food Again!

If you live in the area or are planning a trip to Tokyo between the dates of August 5 – September 30, this might be of interest.  Tokyo’s Namco Namja Town, an indoor theme park in the Ikebukuro ward, is having an event to promote the upcoming September 3 release of The Prince of Tennis: Eikoku-shiki Teikyu-jo Kessen!.  They will be serving desserts and entrees inspired by The Prince of Tennis film.  The image above shows all of the plates or you can jump to AnimeNews Network site below for a full listing of each plate.

Enjoy Life Through Photos

I label this as “just plain cool”.  Natsumi Hayashi is a young woman, living in Tokyo, who has been doing self-portraits of herself and posting them on a daily blog.  However, as you can see above in her photographs she is doing more than just standing and setting around.  Her self-portraits are of her appearing to be levitating.  I saw this on DiggNation’s video cast and had to find it.  They commented that it takes her approximately 300 photos to get the 1 she likes for that day.  Jump over to her site, “yowayowa camera woman diary”, to see more great photos below.

Manga Style Art to Promote Tourism

The Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Center commissioned seven creators to draw manga style representations of Tokyo neighborhoods.  The end result is pictured above.  The images above along with others other general images made to represent the Center will have life size versions at the Japan Expo in Paris from June 30 – July 3.  At the Expo you will be able to take pictures with the characters and write messages of support back to the communities  still recovering from the March Earthquake.   The images above counter-clockwise are: Shiro Asakusa – You Higuri; Ruri Akihabara – Shunsaku Tomose; Reia Genza – Akira Hiyoshimaru; Kyosuke Shinjuku – Katsuki Kuzuya; Azusa Daiba – Toko Hinamatsuri; Mio Shibuya – Reine Hibiki; and Souta Ikebukuro – Kanan Asuka.

Akria Cast Questioned

Akira is facing the same question that arose with the cast of The Last Airbender.  Akira is being looked at for a live action movie from Hollywood.  At this time Warner Bros. is wanting the location of the story changed from Tokyo to New York.  By doing this they are also recasting the movie with Anglo actors, instead of casting actors with an Asian background.  The question is why does Hollywood feel the need to change the ethnicity in a story to make a movie?  Even with the location changed to New York, we are the United States where all ethnic backgrounds are to be blurred.  Check out the full story at ICv2’s site linked below.
